Is Melia Cabo Real "boring and old"???

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone!

I am in the beginning stages of looking into/planning my destination wedding. I am totally in love with the info and images I recevied from Cecila at Melia Cabo Real, but when I called my travel agent to discuss, she said that it was "boring and old." Kind of like apartment buildings. Bummer....

Does anyone know if this is true? Has anyone had a wedding there recently--did you love or hate it? Did it get renovated recently? I would love to hear pros/cons.

My fiance and I are in our late 20's and our guests range from 20 yr old party animals to 65 yr old Grandma's!!! We need a place that is fun, afforable, nice, clean, for everyone.

I would love your opinon's if you've heard much about Melia Cabo Real.

Thanks, Stephanie

Hi,

I am having my wedding at the Melia Cabo Real this November. depending on what you mean my old and boring - i had to accomodate a 'family friendly' 'budget friendly' resort to cater to my guests. sure it might not be 5 star but i like it. it's all about personal taste and i have been to the Melia PV before and know what to expect. A travel agent that i spoke with actually told me the opposite what yours said - she said it was great and has been there.

Thanks so much! I spoke to another travel agent and she said it was a wonderful resort..."older, but renovated" I feel much better about it now. I am also going on a site visit to ease my mind. I will post pics when I return! Thanks!

I absolutely disagree!!

My fiance and I stayed there this March while we were looking for wedding venues. We LOVED the Malia. Cecilia (wedding coordinator) is wonderful, and the food was GREAT. We were upgraded to an Ocean Front room, and loved every morning waking up to whales jumping right out of our window. It's practically a private beach, and beautiful remodeled lobby. We saw 6 other hotels... the Barcelo would have been our #1 choice, because of how gorgeous the grounds are, but it was out of our budget. I wanted to have a venue that our grandmothers would feel relaxed and comfortable, but also our late 20's friends. There's something for everyone there, and it was all about relaxing and enjoying our family and friends for the weekend.

Definitely not old and boring.

Ohhh! So wonderful to hear! My new Travel Agent--without the attitude told me that Melia was wonderful and also suggested Barcelo--but seems a little more spendy, like you mentioned.

We are going to visit over Memorial Day--do you think we arrange a few other hotel site visits or do you think Melia Cabo Real is the ticket? I just want to make a decision and not spend days of our trip going to a bunch or resorts!

Thanks!

We had our Welcome Drinks party at Melia Cabo Real. It was definitely not old and boring. Some of our guests stayed there, and there were a ton of activities, a different theme party every night, and lots of energy. They have a really nice lounge in the lobby, that had a DJ spinning techno music. The grounds are really nice too. I worked with Cecilia for my Welcome Drinks party and she was great! They brought out lounge furniture and lighting to the beach for us. And had a DJ set up techno/lounge music. The bartenders working our party were so much fun too....they were walking around with shots and literally pouring them into guests mouths.

I am having my wedding at the Melia Cabo Real in March 2012!

I visited Melia recently and I didn't get the old and boring vibe! I didn't get to see the rooms while i was there (which may have told me a lot more. .. ) but the grounds were beautiful and not out of date!

Melia is actually one of the first resorts in the cabo area so of course It is definitely older compared to the new, extravagant resorts in the area but it wasn't noticeable. Personally, I strongly believe that it is what you make of it! I know there are fancier places in the area but my fiance and i chose to do business with melia because of all the good reviews, our wonderful site visit, and the gorgeous grounds. The beach is huge too! I have no doubt that our friends and family will be happy staying here.

Oh and here is a quick fun fact: the travel channel actually named Melia Cabo real as one of the top 10 resorts in all of Mexico! I think this information itself is a little dated. But hey, it's still good news right?!

Hey there!  We did decide on MCR and loved every minute!  The wedding planners are wonderful and our wedding reception was amazing--perfect--magical!  I agree with you 100%!  Good luck in 2012!  And...just some advice...book the 10 piece mariachi (worth every penny!) band and have sparklers during your first dance!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
