I am working with Jenny at Baja Weddings to pick out a DJ and she ref Joaquin at Pacific Sound Pacific Sound DJ - Disc Jockey Industry in Los Cabos and Alex at Cabo Salsa who doesnt have a website. Have any of you researched them? She also ref me to Cabo Flowers for the floral. I have found some helpful links about them but I was just wondering if you looked at them and what you thought.

Susanna,

Luz Maria also referred me to Cabo Flowers, but we decided to go with Lola at Florenta instead. She has such great reviews on here and gave us a great quote, so I feel safe with her.

As far as music, we're still trying to decide between a band and a DJ, so I can't be of much help with that one.

By the way...Welcome to Vness33 and SouthernSweetie - Congrats ladies!

I really wanted a band but I felt since my group is small (max 35-40) that the band would be a little too much for such a small group. Im still debating it but I do plan on having a guitarist for the ceremony and mariachis for cocktail hour so at least there will be some live music... I keep telling myself I gotta scale down somewhere (budget wise) but its hard when there is always something that is a little nicer. :)

hey i have a question for you dreams cabo brides... I have been emailing Mariana about getting my date booked and she has been really slow in responding... I know other people have said the response time is slow but I have been talking to her only about once a week for 3 weeks with questions. The last email i sent was in regards to the budget to get a roundabout number to make sure its what we can afford without any major surprises in the end. The last email I got from her was over a week ago and im getting really anxious because we havent booked the date definitely. I just wanted to know if anyone else had the same experience? Is this normal to take this long to respond to the email? Am i better off calling her? help! we want to book our date! Im not sure how to go about this nowundecided.gif

We're the same way. We are planning on a minimum of 40 guests, but are still debating the same thing. Originally we had the same plan as you, and now we're discussing ipod at ceremony and cocktail and band at the reception. If only bands weren't SO expensive down there! Decisions, decisions! Who are you thinking of for guitar and mariachi, if you don't mind me asking? We've talked with David Flores and DJ Mijares (I believe he plays guitar as well), but never made a final decision, obviously, lol!

I am also working with Tammy who has been great and so helpful. When do you plan on starting on your group block for rooms?

I told my WC that I was interested in the fire dancers but like you, this would be an extra that we decide on once we get closer and see how the budget is going.

We just took our E-pics this past Sat so I am anxiously waiting to get them back from our photographer and get our STD's ordered! Progress :)
Good question, not exactly sure when to book yet. I dont expect rates to be available until the summertime. I still have questions for my TA, too.

You already took your e-pics, how fun!! I dont have a photographer for ours yet. I had hoped to do that with Gilda over our site visit. I thought it would be so cool to have photos done in cabo but our trip is going to be so quick we decided against it. I'll probably book them with the photographers I originally wanted to fly out for the wedding. We'll see. :)

Since we are only having the videographer tape our ceremony with highlights (like first dance, cutting of the cake, etc.) of the reception I really wanted someone live for the ceremony. The guitarist she recommended me is Daryl Currie. I have seen some of his posts on the site but I havent really read too much about other girls using him. I hear alot of good things about David Flores, I emailed him a while back but he never responded. When you talked with him did he send you an audio or video recording of him playing. It makes me a little uneasy booking someone who I have not heard play before.

This is who she recommended for Mariachis: Mariachis Jaliciense

I think they are just really busy with weddings right now...I noticed that recently some of my email communications with my WC were taking a bit longer than normal so I'm sure it is just that they are super busy.

I am sure she will get back to you very soon...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
