I would say our total guests are about half friends and half family, but with that being said my fiance has only two family members coming. So, I guess that means I have a fairly large family. We really expected about ten more, as I believe we have finally reached the point in our lives where most of our friends are successful enough to go on nice trips...but as you said things come up. My best friend from work and her husband were planning to come and now she is pregnant and due next month. Another good friend graduated law school and got accepted into the army JAG program all since we've been engaged. At first we really dwelled on the people that couldn't make it (especially fiance's stubborn mom - long story) but in the end what is important is that you have the wedding you both want. For us we just wanted a week with our family and friends - whoever that may be that ends up making the trip. You'll never regret having a beautiful wedding in Mexico regardless of the few people that couldn't be there.

Onto other things...how is your planning coming along? I love hearing all the details from you ladies!

Wish my family and friends could afford it. All my girlfriends are prego and expecting if not having it in the next few months and everyone else says that its expensive and they cant make it happen :(

Hey Ladies!  I am a June Bride...June 25th @ Moon Palace in Cancun.   We are hoping for 20 people=)  We have a small family and it is expensive for some.  I have no regrets about our destination wedding.  We are going to have an AHR when we get back.

My FI and I both have small families which is why we decided on adestination wedding in the first place. If we had decided to do a "Normal" wedding at home, there would be more people there we "had" to invite than actual people we wanted! I think that you will end up being happy with 15 or less guests beause each one will mean a lot to you, and you will have much more personal time with each one at your destination. So far we have 12 booked including us and the photographers, and if no one else decided to come, we'd be ok with it. There were 2 people we HAD to have at our wedding (or we would not go otherwise) and both are coming for sure, so we are happy. Ultimately it ias about you and your FI getting married so I doubt you'll be disappointed when it happens! Plus, the less guests means the better OOT bags or favors you can do ;)

yea i heard everyone :) it will be great despite the amount of people. Who ever is supposed to be there will in the end. Yes we are very excited about the beach wedding, small initmate and just perfect. I totally hear you on if you had it at home it would be the having to invite those people and thats why we wanted to have the destination wedding as well ;)

right now we have my two sisters, one boy friend, my mom, his aunt and brother. My best friend and her husband are talking about coming and then my grandma is booked. we have an two uncles, a aunt and 3 cousins who are possibly coming and that would be the list in total.

and yes the OOT bags have turned out amazing! and we are doing a lot of final touches that we wouldnt be able to do if we had it here with a ton of people.

are any of you wearing heels for the wedding or are you guys going to do the sandal/flip flop thing? I should say the dinner and afterwards part opposed to the wedding bc we will be bare feet :)

I really want to get these blue heels but im debating big time...but i want them! ;)

I'm wearing heels, although my ceremony will be in the grass. I'm thinking of ordering these soulmates ( http://thesolemates.com/our-products/ ) in hopes they will keep me from sinking! Have any of you ladies used these before?

Here are my shoes, my dress is lace, so I love that the flower has tulle over it to keep it from catching on the dress (although I bought the shoes before I picked out my dress!):

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
