Donie- If you don't mind me asking what rates did you get for the Cabo Mar for a welcome dinner? I really wanted to do this little cruise but I'm not sure if it will be in our budget.

Also, for those brides who were having a hard time getting in contact with Mariana, I spoke to her about a week ago and I know she was out sick with the flu so she was slow on returning my emails. I finally did speak to her and she was very nice!

Hi and welcome! I received a rate of $40/person, but others have since then tried to get the same rate and have not had much luck, unfortunately. I received that rate through my coordinator at Cabo del Sol. If they are not willing to give you that rate I know people have been successful at getting that same rate through the sunrider, Good Luck!

How's everyone's planning going? My fiance purchased his suit and groomsmen's pants from banana republic recently. They are having some great sales on their summer stuff if anyone is interested. Now if only I could decide on a dress! decisions, decisions...

Donie, that's great about your fiance's suit! My fiance got his at Nordstrom this June during their anniversary sale.

We are going to Cabo in less than 2 weeks to do our final site visit, meet with vendors and tasting at Cabo del Sol. I can't wait!!!

Brittany,

I think your wedding is at Cabo del Sol the day after mine (mine is June 10th), is that right? Not sure how I missed that earlier! Anyway, just wanted to say good luck on the site visit - can't wait to hear about it when you get back!

By the way...have you decided on centerpieces? I'm having a hard time deciding if it's worth all the extra money for flower/candle centerpieces when the venue is so pretty alone. I was quoted $55/table by my florist just for three glass vases with hurricane candles and sand. Frustrating!

Yes, we are during the same weekend!

My wedding planner is working with the florist directly right now so I haven't seen any proposals yet, but we are meeting with 2 when we are there. That seems so expensive for centerpieces with no flowers! I feel like maybe Cabo del Sol has something in house that can be used on the tables. I will definitely ask when we are there!

I know Luz Maria has hurricanes with pillar candles, but I'm interested to see what you find out! I bought about 60 glass filled votive candles that I'll be taking down with me, because the florist wanted to charge me $3 per votive!! I'm not sure how they will last but if we have any leftover or if they still have lots of burning time I'd be happy to leave them with Luz Maria for you if you're interested...we certainly don't want to be lugging them back anyway.

No problem! I'd rather stuff go to someone that can use it! We are working with Florenta for flowers. Lola has been very sweet, but I am surprised by prices. She gave us the lowest quote out of anyone though. You're going to have so much fun on your site visit! We were there this time of year last year and it was super hot - near 100 everyday - so pack plenty of sundresses! I'm pretty sure I spent the entire week in sundresses and swimsuits!

Thanks for the info Donie! I'll have to contact both Cabo Mar and Sunrider and see what rates I can get.

Who is everyone using as their photographer? I feel like I need to get on this next task quickly and book a photographer but I'm not sure who to go with, and who has a reasonable price.

Any suggestions?

Hey Ladies! Our date is June 30, 2011 at Barcelo Los Cabos resort! Just wanted to say hello! As for photographers- we booked Alec & T. I've spoken with T. a number of times on the phone and via email and she is great! I spoke with other brides that used them and they were all very happy! Their work is amazing! I'd looked into them :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
