I just got engaged march 19 , so Im new to this whole wedding thing. I have been looking around and planning some stuff. I was going with a traditional one at home but even on a budget ( just a ceremony and dinner at a restaurant) with all the other stuff will still be around 10K and be honest I want a wedding as most women do, but sometimes it hard to justify giving so much money to others. Im only 26 and its just me and my fiance paying to be honest we dont have the money to spend

Anywho here comes the idea of a destination wedding. I can get a great honeymoon and wedding in one and hopefully family and friends will come, and at a real budget I can afford. So I hope this forum will help me in deciding the best bang for my buck.

Hello Welcome! Congrats on your recent engagement and glad you found the site! It will definitely help you to decide if a destination wedding is for you and if so, where to go! I chose a DW for some of the same reasons you are considering... cost, smaller group of people, and opportunity to travel.

Best wishes on your wedding planning! wink.gif

Welcome and Congrats on your recent engagement! This is the most exciting time for you and your fiance. Take your time when deciding on your location. Just as a warning, not everyone will be thrilled but if this is what you want- go for it!!

I'm from NYC also and I understand how expensive it can be to plan a local wedding. From the beginning we wanted a DW and I admit I did waver a bit because of family pressure but now I have NO REGRETS! We're paying for it all by ourselves so no one has a vote.lol. Those who love you will understand.

Good luck! You've found a great place and wonderful people.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
