Secrets Excellence Punta Cana (AI)

Recommended Posts

If it were my honeymoon I would want to stay in either buildings 7, 8 or 10 and ocean view. They are the best location to the pool that is pretty active and convenient to the restaurants and main lobby. If you are wanting to be more secluded and quiet then look to get into buildings 2 or 3 and ocean view. I think the 7,8 & 10 buildings are Excellence Club rooms and come with an additional charge. We didnt spring for the Excellence club as we thought it wasnt worth the extra cash each day. None of their rooms are directly on the ocean and have a pool or some grounds in between. The swim up rooms are more like a normal room with a patio that ends at the pool. They arent very secluded like you see at some of the resorts in Jamaica. Anyway, here is a map of the resort to give you an idea of where the buildings are.

We're thinking that the Excellence Club isn't worth it either. It's funny, when I search Tripadvisor, any time people ask about rooms, everyone talks about buildings. People rarely mention specific room types (ie master suite, honeymoon suite). Are the upgraded rooms worth it?

We didnt see the honeymoon suite so I cant tell you much about it. My understanding is the rooms are all the same and the variance is in location or Excellence club. The only exception is the Master suite and the honeymoon suite. I have never seen the master suite available but it is supposed to have a separate living room. The HM suite has a similar room arrangement as all the rest of the rooms at the resort with a spa tub in the room. The HM suites do have a hot tub on the balcony which is the only difference. We are not honeymooners anymore and we tend to spend all the daylight hours on the beach or at the pool so the room just isnt that important to us. I would say the outside hot tub could be very romantic but it is not secluded so you might have an audience during some nocturnal festivities in the spa. blush2.gif

Here is a link to a site that has some descriptions and a few photos of the rooms. wxy.honeymoonsinc.com/Page3228.aspx (hope I am not violating terms of the forum posting this)

Hopefully that helps you get an answer to the room question.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
