Planning a Cabo wedding, this is what I posted in the newbie section

Recommended Posts

Hi my name is Meli and my soon to be hubby is David. We're planning a wedding in Los Cabos. June 7th is our preferred date. We desperately need help on deciding on a location and a WC. He likes Pueblo Bonito Rose, but I've heard mixed things about it. I would prefer the Sheraton Hacienda, Fiesta Americana Imperial Suite, Dreams, or the Rui Palace. We have a budget of 23,000 and want to get the most we can for our money, without sparing luxury. Any information would be great. Thanks

-Meli

Hi Meli. I am not much help because I am having my weddign at Dreams. I chose Dreams because it is an AI(was a must for me) and I think you get the most for your money with an AI resort. I also chose Dreams because I was VERY unhappy with the coordinator at the RIU. She would never return any of my e-mails which had important questions in it. There are numerous threads on different resorts and plenty of reviews in the forum that Tammy posted. All the girls on this site are VERY helpful and will get you the most most for you money!! Good luck on you search.

well, we were able to do a private welcome dinner with casino night for our guests and have a really great private reception with DJ, dancing etc...some gals get fireworks, firedancers, etc.

the WC's there are awesome so they can help you with anything you need.

I hope I am!! So far everything is good, but I am not a very elaborate person, plus my fiance doesnt like to be the center of attention. I have my site visit this weekend so I hope to hash everything out. Basically I wanted a wedding on the beach and a private reception, which I am getting. I'm taste testing food next week so hopefully I will have that hashed out.

Personally, I would never go to any island and not stay at an all inclusive. I just think that you know what you are paying for ahead of time. All our guests are paying approximately $1900 - $2000 per couple for 4 days. All they need money for is souveniers and excursions and cab/bus fare to town. I just can't see asking my guests to spend $500 each for the flight and then $200 per night for a room and then they have to still buy every meal. Everyone has their own opinions.

Why doesn't he want an all inclusive? Plus the wedding/reception is soooo much cheaper at an AI. I can then splurge on the more important things like a great photographer to capture the memories forever!!

We are having ours at The Hilton- we also chose not to do an AI because we felt it was too expensive for our guests. Also, I felt like I was paying twice for food because you still need to pay for the cocktail reception and dinner at most places.

Anyway, we are budgeting for 60 people, and I am at about $25000. Hopefully won't go too much over that. You will find so much info on this site I am sure you can make it happen!

PS- I am in San Diego as well :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
