Need help/advice for Cancun hotel Zone rehearsal dinner venue

Recommended Posts

Hi guys.

So my fiance and I are struggeling with finding a good restraunt to host our rehearsal dinner at in Cancun. We want something close ( in the hotel zone area) as we are urging all of our guests to stay at the ME Resort in Cancun. We are in MAJOR need of places that are good AND affordable. We keep finding either or.... Right now all our recs seem amazing but after contacting them they want to charge anywhere btwn 80-100$ a person which is way out of our budget for our rehearsal dinner. I know I have seem some other posts but am just having no luck getting set menus arranged and or prices negotiated. Any tips, advice, etc? We are very open. We would like a set menu, seated dinner with drink option (or atleast wine).

Thanks

Megs

hmmm...well, i cant help you in terms of knowing who will do a set menu (which is probably why you are getting such high prices) but there are some great restaruants in the hotel zone.....if you havent already contacted these places, id recommend: la distileria (mexican food), lorenzillo's (lobster / sea food on the lagoon) and also puerto madero which is a steak house. Check out Hotels and Vacation Reviews - TripAdvisor for some reviews, there is alot there. Also, there is a fantastic restaurant called Perrico's that is not in the hotel zone - but totally worth the cab ride to get there!!!

I went to Captain's Cove for lunch during a site visit and thought it'd be a nice spot for a rehearsal (granted, the name is a bit cheesy but service and food were good): Captain's Cove Cancun Restaurant: Steak and Seafood Grill - Cancun Restaurant. It has a nice view of the lagoon and it's on the water.

W/ regard to pricing, I think you should be very honest w/ the restaurants re: what you can afford and see if they can prepare a special menu for you. Do the quoted prices include open bar?? If so, that's likely why your quotes are so high. Perhaps you may want to restrict drinks to beer and wine for 1-2 hrs or see if they can charge per drink which could be much cheaper if your group isnt full of lushes (like mine!! haha). wink.gif

My coworker had her's at Lagoona Grill, Cancun Restaurant Laguna Grill

I haven't tried food myself but she said it was fantastic and what saw in photos, the place has a really nice view. But I believe it it located a little ways away from ME Cancun.

I'm not sure what type of food you're looking to have but here are my faves eats from a year or two ago (not sure if they're still there or changed hands....). mix of steak, seafood, itallian and mexican. Run their names through a search engine to find more details.

La Madonna and Lorenzillos are near your hotel. La Capilla Argentina, Labná, La Dolce Vita, Ruths Chris and Lorito Joe's are a cab ride away.

Planet Hollywood, Pat O'Brien's, Bubba Gump and Outback Steakhouse are also near your hotel if you're looking for other eats during the week.

happy eating!

Hi there! I actually have a GREAT rehearsal dinner recommendation! The restaurant is Limoncello Ristorante and is in the hotel zone (and I think not that far from the ME). The setting is GORGEOUS.. pictures don't even do it justice. When we went down to do our site visit, we went there for drinks and knew that we wanted to do our rehearsal dinner there. The staff worked with my husband ahead of time based on our budget to do a set menu (which honestly I can't remember what it was but I believe it was around 30 pp) and included app, full meal and dessert. They were organized, treated us amazing, and I can't say enough good things about them. Their website has a place I think to do an email request if you want to get ahold of them. Good luck! Here is my review that I originally posted...

rehearsal dinner: A Limoncello Ristorante- organized and great! willing to do a set menu for our group and set a price so that we could budget accordingly. the only snafu was that although we made our reservations on line and confirmed by phone, when my husband went there in person they had no record of reservation..so I would doublecheck when you are down there. The ambience is GREAT, food is amazing, and the restaurant overlooks the water and I knew when I ate there during our site visit we had to a rehearsal dinner there. They were very organized and had great customer service!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
