I work out with a trainer once a week and we do circuit training that involves kick boxing and karate. It's awesome! If you're like me and carry your weight in your hips and butt then check out kick boxing. It really tones your derriere!

Oh that is totally me... all hips, butt, and thighs! Maybe I will try this in the future. For now I'm doing hot yoga 2-3 times per week, and then cardio and some sporadic free weights at the gym in my condo. Trying to work out at least 4x per week.

I tried a Zumba class for the first time last night.... WOW what a crazy FUN work out!!! Im pretty sure that I am hooked!! Although, I am "dance-challenged" with no rhyme or reason I just kept moving and had a pretty intense workout! Im sure I looked silly doing it but I dont care!

And the best part is that the building where the group meets is literally 40ft from my front door....so I can't make any excuses, hehe

I only wish they had it more than once a week. It did NOT feel like a full hour, thats for sure.

Does any one else do Zumbahuh.gif Is it really as good of a workout as it feelshuh.gif

We are halfway through the first week ladies!! wooohooo!! ;0)

OMG I used to be a nanny and it is SO hard not to have chicken nuggets and stuff! Thankfully, my employers were pretty health nutty, so I always had another option in the house!

This is pretty much my plan too- but throwing in a couple of pilates DVDs, walking the dog, extra ab work. I would do hot yoga if I could find someone to pay for me! haha

Oh- and the race that I was 'training' for- I've been running for my cardio, but haven't been doing good at my long runs. Thankfully, while Bay to Breakers is an organized run, you can walk, dress in costume, drink and party along the way! I'll have to do all of the above, minus the drinking!

Let me say, I am sore today! I guess those extra pushups and arm exercises yesterday are working! Makes me want to go exercise more!
Oh! Make sure you do rows or pull ups if you're doing a lot of push ups. I accidentally did too many of one muscle group and not enough of the other, and my shoulder started to hurt really badly. My masseur and sister (who is now a personal trainer, but unfortunately lives a few hours away!) both said that I need to balance out my muscle groups better.

PS I'm still hankering for Papa Johns... but now I want some goat cheese on it. Or some California Pizza Kitchen. Does anyone else have really bad food commercial hungers? Like when you see it on a commercial and you want it REALLY badly? It's so bad for me that I can see a glimpse of it while I FF through commercials and I still want to eat it.

Zumba can be a VERY good work out. But it all really depends on your instructor. It can range in the 600 calories per hour area. However, there are easier steps to slower music and harder steps to faster music, so depending on the mix your class uses, you may have a good work out or a really awesome work out. I also find that doing it in a class is a better work out than using the DVDs, but it may just be my "I've got to work hard because I don't want to look like a joke in front of other people" mentality.

You might want to get a heart rate monitor if you REALLY want to know how much you're working out. Or occasionally measure your heart rate during class... or just monitor your RPE (Rate of Perceived Exertion).

A good rule of thumb (but not the kind you beat your wife with) for cardio is that you should be exercising to the point where you can spit out a full sentence but not much more.

I know, it is pricey! But I still have a valid student card, so that gets me 20% off at my local Moksha yoga studio. Otherwise I could not afford it.

I don't have cable, so luckily I do not have this problem! But I work in a very multicultural area with so many temptations.... sushi, dim sum, indian, thai... the choices are endless. I opted for a grilled chicken salad today... somehow.

And LOL about the rule of thumb!

I've never heard of Zumba, but it sure sounds interesting.

My work is ordering pizza and cake tomorrow for lunch UGH.. so myself, and one of my other coworkers (who is a bridesmaid in someones wedding in November), will be going to my house for lunch tomorrow. I hate to sound like a "poor sport" at work, but I can't even look at the food or smell it, and the moment I do - game over!

So since starting the BL9, I have been doing well. Doing my cardio and P90X. Yesterday, I step on the scale and I was up 4 lbs from the day before (naked so it wasn't what I was wearing). After nearly having a major meltdown, I decided to just take it in stride, went on with my day, did my normal routine, did my P90X. Got up this morning and just as sudden as they appeared, the 4 lbs are gone again. What the hell was that? Could you imagine if that was my wedding day. I guess there is a reason people say only weigh yourself once a week. Thank goodness yesterday wasn't weigh in day.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
