Hi ladies,

 

I assume that it is common that the wedding ceremony is done on the beach while the reception is done either on the deck or indoors. But what are you doing about shoes and what are you telling your guests regarding shoes?

 

I plan on wearing flat slips or sandals to walk on the sand but when we get back to the deck for the reception, I want to be able to change into nicer shoes (especially for the wedding dance, we are doing something special that I will need high heels for). I imagine that most ladies at our wedding will want to do the same. But I'm having a hard time picturing everyone on the deck swiping sand off of their feet to put on a different pair of shoes or to get the sand off of their feet.

 

Am I overthinking it or is there a better way to handle this? Even if they all wear sandals, they still have to get sand from the shoes! And men as well.... How do we make it minimally uncomfortable for them? Any ideas?

Good question, I never thought about that! I would be interested in hearing what others have to say too.

 

I know I am doing barefoot sandals I ordered from Etsy for the ceremony (on the beach)and then changing into a reception dress and heels for later.

I think your overthinking the guests shoes. They can wear sandals on the beach, or girls can wear wedges. JUST LEAVE IT UP THE THEM! You have enough to worry about girl!!

 

I clicked on this thread bcus I'm concerned about how I'm going to alter my dress! I'll be barefoot on the beach, then in heels for the reception. So what length do I get my dress in? I think my plan is to first get the heels, then get the dress altered to that length first and see how saggy it may look without the heels. What are you girls doing?

Some girls get paint brushes in a bucket for people to brush their feet off after the beach. I know i've seen pictures of it on here.

 

I'm in the "I can't worry about them" group. When you're at a beach resort - there's a lot of sand around. It's unavoidable. people will figure out how to get the sand off of their feet.

 

I got my dress ordered with me barefoot - my heels are only about an inch high. If you get your dress ordered with a 2-3 inch heel, it's going to drag in flats/barefoot so you have to be careful.

Also, not everyone gets married on the beach. There are pros and cons to consider. The beach is hot, noisy (from the waves), and open to curious onlookers. Not everyone is into that, and some of the resorts have absolutely beautiful areas set up specifically for weddings that aren't on the beach. So, before you decide whether to shorten your dress, I guess you would need to determine where the ceremony will be.

My ceremony is definitely on the beach. I know they will have a runner going up to the chuppah but not where the guests are. Ok, I will not worry. You are all right!!!

 

I did my dress with no shoes on at all so it will actually be nice to have it a few inches off the ground for when I wear heels for our first dance which is gonna be a surprise tango.

 

Thanks ladies. I am paranoid about being inconsiderate towards guests (which I was already accused of for having a DW in the first place) so I'm extra conscious of the little details regarding my guests.

We are definitely not worrying about what are guests wear. We have an isle runner so I will be able to wear heels the entire night. My FI is a foot taller than me and I will have to wear heels so I don’t look so short.

 

If you are getting married barefoot, but wearing heels later you will need to get your dress hemmed to the heels and let the dress drag in the sand.

      Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010.       Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners.
