Canadian Brides getting married in Mexico!

Did you find the rates changed enough to make it worth waiting much past the initial 8 months? Did those guests that waited say 6 months out get a much better price?

The prices were up and down a few times but our guests booked starting about eight months ahead up to about two months ahead.

I definitely recommend checking through WestJet Vacations (or find out about group rates at a specific resort then book flights on west jet) to see if they have any of the resorts you like in their packages. Oh yah and we had guests flying from Toronto, Winnipeg, Calgary and Vancouver - just to mix it up a little bit :)

I just got our first set of pricing from Maritime Travel....she's saying $2100 from the various spots in Canada that we have people travelling from, and she's also said she doesn't expect the pricing to come down at all. I think this is ridiculous considering i just checked itravel2000 for as late in the year as I can (they haven't released their prices for 2011 yet) and just 2 weeks before Christmas is still just over $1500 with taxes included. I've sent a request to itravel2000 to see what their group rate might be, but I honestly think it'll be better for people to book their trips individually.

well got the group rate from itravel2000.....and it's just $100 less than what Maritime was telling me....I've told our guests that we are NOT going to go to the group rate way and that everyone will have to book individually.....I'll start researching all the different sites once the prices are actually out....and I'm sure come fall they will drop in price. These high quotes are for packages that aren't even out yet and flight schedules that haven't been finalized! Just remember that before you decide to scrap your resort choice!

If you're guests are all using the same travel agent, its a better thing to do than have them go off and do it all themselves. THis way sending your request to the WC is easier for your TA of room requests and stuff. Also if something, like last years hurricane, happens your TA can rebook and shuffle people much easier than them all calling YOU in a panic asking what to do!

Anyone on this website could probably be a travel agent for Mexico trying to pick the right location for your wedding. After countless of hours of researching and looking at what every resort had to offer for our wedding and for our guests, we narrowed it down to 3 places than finally picked Gran Bahia Principe Riviera Maya. It has everything we are looking for and more and it's reasonably priced at any time of the year which takes a lot of stress and pressure off me.

So excited to have a resort picked (again)! All I can say is thank god I started planning early so I had room for mistakes and rebookings.

Thanks for all your help and suggestions!

Hi there,

We went with Gran Bahia Principe Tulum and our TA was able to secure a price of 1471 taxes in for our guests...including Club Diamond....a lot depends on the time of year you are going...but have your TA price everything out for you and you'll find something that suits everyone!

Welcome to the forum and congrats! Happy planning!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
