Hi Ladies,

I was just curious as to how many hours you had or will be having your photographer for? And if the photographer you are using is part of your resort or outside vendor? The reason that I am asking is because I am unsure as to our agreement with ours. We were just informed that we will only have our photog for 4 hours to cover our event and we cannot break up the time, everything has to be consecutive. I do not think that this is enough time as I would want pictures of my getting ready beforehand, the ceremony, after the ceremony pictures and the reception pictures. Our wedding is a total of 6 hours and Im not too thrilled of not having 2 hours of it photographed but yet I sort of hesitant of forking over the extra $1,000 for the additional hours. So if you girls can please help me out here, as to if it is worth it to add the extra hours or if this is not a big deal and that the 4 hours should be enough time. Thank you all in advance.

I got my photographer for 6 hours. She is an outside vendor. I am in the same boat with you- not sure if this will be quite enough time- what time is your ceremony and reception? This is the timeline I'm thinking:

3:00 She arrives to catch us getting ready (I'll be pretty much done)

3:45 We do bride/groom shots (want to catch while sun is still up)

5:00 Ceremony

5:30 Cocktail hour

6:30 Sneak away for family shots, more bride/groom shots, etc.

8:30 Dinner (resort requires late seating due to size of our group)

9:00 TIME"S UP......

We're not having a reception, so I hope this is enough time! I may have to pay for an extra hour though....Photography is the most important thing to me, so we'll see how the day goes!! I'm sure your photog will have some ideas as well...Luck!

It's pretty typical that I will photograph for 8-10 hours. That usually will cover everything

11 am - makeup/hair

12:30 - lunch

1 pm - get dressed/bridal portraits/groomsmen portraits

2 pm - ceremony

2:30 pm - large group pictures

3 pm - bridal party photos

4 pm - bride & groom photos

5 pm - cocktail hour

6 pm - dinner

7:30 pm - toats/cake cut

8 pm - first dance

You can see how time quickly gets away from you. And the getting ready process usually takes longer than expected (hair/makeup/dress/accessories/portraits)

I have my photographers for 8 hours.

The photographers are meeting me in the spa at 12:30 while I get ready

My ceremony is at 4pm

cocktail hour at 5pm

reception at 6pm

I think we'll have plenty of time.

Plus 2 hrs TTD the next day!

Shosieslovr - you need to figure out what's most important to you - the extra $1000 or the 2 hours of photos that you will have forever.

Good luck!

I am at a venue that had a rate of around $1000 for 2 extra hours of photography. I decided to use an outside vendor at a much better rate. I just asked my venue to deduct the cost of photography from the package. You may consider a different photographer if cost is a big concern.

Ladies, thank you all for your advice and comments. My FI and I discussed this and we both agreed that 4 hours is just not enough time, we dont want to miss a thing! and he knows just how important the pictures are to me so we decided just to pay the extra money on top of what weve already paid in order to have all the special moments captured on our day. We decided that it would be best to have the photographer for the whole day!! yay i couldnt be any more excited! Once again thanks girls!

I am not using the resort photographer, which might make the difference, but....My package comes with 8 hrs for the day of the wedding, which we are going to use. I do not personally think that 4 hrs is long enough either, as you would want pics of you guys getting ready, etc. The pics are one of the most important pieces for us too, so I'm glad to hear you're going for more time!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
