No Dress with 1 1/2 months to go!!!!!!

Recommended Posts

Ok so I purchased my dress from a salon in NJ on October 10th 2009. I gave these idiots $860 of my hard earned money. The dress was supposed to be delivered on 2/22. There were some delays, well this is what they told me, and it was set to be in store by the 3rd week in March. Well the 3rd week comes, I speak with the store manager and she tells me she is going to call me to schedule my fitting for the following week. The next week comes and I hear nothing by Wed. afternoon ( I only waited this long because the store is only open Wed - Sun). I call from Wed - Sat and I get no response. I decide to search their name and I come across this forum about the place. Many brides talking about how they have gone out of business and are not providing refunds or producing dresses to brides. So I take a trip down to the store with my fiance and low and behold the once beautiful store is now empty with a big blow out clearance sale on the front and the store is completely empty!! They have a number for a lawyer ( I assume theirs) and that's it. I am so heart broken. Where in the hell do they get off doing this type of thing to people. I now have to try and find a dress off the rack! Which was what I planned to do in the beginning but I fell in love with this dress and had to have it. I cannot believe this. I am going to try to contact the manufacturer of the dress to see if they still have the dress or if there is anything they can do to help. I am soo pissed right now!!! voodoo.gif

omg!!!!! i cant believe those people would do that to you and probly many other brides! You should definetly call the manufacturer and see if the dress was ordered and where it is. Talk about a wedding nightmare! Keep us updated! Are you taking legal action? YOU SHOULD! I hope that owner gets sued!!!!

I can't even imagine how frustrated and angry you must be. I would definitely be getting in touch with the lawyer whose number they provided but also contacting the Better Business Bureau in your area to report them and see if they can provide any assistance in getting your money back. I really hope that you're able to find something else you love in the meantime, if the designer doesn't have your dress afterall!

WHOA! You defintely have a claim if you want to pursue a lawsuit. I am so sorry this happened to you sad.gif However, filing a claim does not give you a dress, and can take a while since it would be in small claims most likely.

It sucks, but the only thing I can suggest is to call the number that they have listed and see what (if any) answers you can get from them. Second, call the dress manufacturer and see if they are familiar with what is going on. Third, hire an attorney of your own to get your money back!

I am not licensed to practice in New York or I would definitely help a little more, but I do have a few friends who are. Keep me posted!

Oh. My. Gosh! I feel sick for you. I can't believe they would keep emailing you to make you think that things were still ok. I just don't understand how they could be that unscrupulous. Have you tried calling the lawyer? If they ordered the dress before they went out of business, it must have been shipped to them. If they later sold it to someone else to try to get more money for it, you may be able to at least recoup some of your money. What a horrible feeling!!

OH NOOOOOOO! That is just horrible!!! I can't believe something like this would actually happen. I'm sure you've already hit the ground running this morning, but I would first call the manufacturer, second call the lawyer, third take the day off work and hit the stores. GOOD LUCK and keep us posted!!

OMG I cant believe that happened! If you paid by credit card I would also contact them as you might be able to get some money back. if no luck with getting your dress from the manufacturer I would call up other bridal salons to see what they can do for you in terms of discounts. I read an article where the same thing happened and another bridal salon stepped in and only charge at cost for the dress.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
