Any January 2011 Brides

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I finally booked! I am going from Jan. 29-Feb. 5 and will be staying at the Paradisus Punta Cana. I tried to book our legal ceremony wedding on Jan. 31, but the wedding coordinator said the minister is not booking for 2011 until June. Has anyone booked the minister for a legal ceremony already?

Hello ladies,

It's been awhile since we got caught up. I'm just wondering where everyone's planning stages are at? So far we booked Pastor Rick for our symbolic ceremony, Dj Mannia, Phil Steingard, and booked our reception at Jellyfish restaurant. I bought my wedding dress last month- it's an Allure special edition dress that is strapless with layered organza and beaded/lace top with a dropped waist. We have our Jack & Jill wedding shower next week! It'll be very informal- evening bbq with no stiff games. It'll just be a great way for everyone to meet each other and get more acquainted before the trip. We never sent out STD cards, but instead had a link from our travel agent with an e-invite (including online booking form). We're only sending actual invitations to his side of the family (as they are expecting it for the formality).

Next on my to do list is to find bridesmaid dresses. I'm still debating on a color- was thinking teal/turquise or purple. It'll most likely be strapless, short, and flowy to compliment my dress. Anyone else having difficulty trying to please all their bridesmaids?

How are you all doing?

Lisa

I loved the bottle invitations. I know it takes time to put them together. I did mine and it took me two days working all day..I've never been in Dominican Republic but I've heard great things about it.. Good Luck to all the DR brides!! please relax and have tons of fun because it is a great life experience..

Very soon, it is going to be one year since I had my DW..when I look at the pictures I get so nostalgic..I want to get married again!! of course with the same guy ;-)

hey Lisa and everyone!

we are getting closer and closer! we sent out our invites on Monday and have just received our first RSVP today! the funny thing is - it was the one person we really didn't want there, but felt obliged to invite...LOL.

we have our date/ceremony/Pastor York/dinner booked as well as our photographer who is coming from Alberta. we are holding off on the reception site as we need to have an idea of how many people are coming.

i have only tried on a couple of dresses, so i haven't oredered anything yet!

i have had a little of a birdesmaid setback though. i started off with 3 BM and 1 MOH...and i am down to 1 BM and my MOH! one of my gals just found out she is pregnant and due in Feb...and the other one is having financial probs and doesn't know if she can come at all. i am totally bummed about these girls not being at the wedding, but i understand.

this makes the bridesmaid dress hunt much easier - although one is a plus size and one is not...that is the only challenge. i think we are going the Alfred Angelo route, in "Lipstick".

so, until we find out how many people are coming, i will just focus on my dress and the BM! easy peasy! (ha!)

Hey everyone!

We have the ceremony/dinner/reception locations booked, and have just finished our Save the Dates, will be sending them out Monday. Went with the boarding pass Save the Dates, so far a few people have seen them and LOVE them. I have my dress, Sophia Tolli - Skye, should be in in a few months now, and I can't wait!!

I am only having two bridesmaids, and they are super easy going. We will be heading out shopping soon, I can't really see dresses being an issue, I'm not picky either, so what ever they want will be fine, as long as it is Aqua in colour. Big things to get done are to decide and book a photographer and DJ...I am also getting started early on my OT bags for guests, hard to do with out having a number confirmed, but I want to get things slowly as I see them. And the last thing is to get my butt to the gym...running out of time before we will be on the beach, and I definately have some pounds to shed!

Hola!

Me and FI are getting married January 14, 2011 at the Melia. We are flying in January 11. We booked Pastor York for the ceremony (excited about that)! We chose to have our reception at the Jellyfish Restaurant versus the Melia. Still looking for a photographer/videographer. I feel like there is soooo much to do! Fun, but stressful! Congrats to all you January '11 brides!

Hi Ladies!!

Last time I was on here I thought I'd be a February bride but this past week we booked our wedding for January 8th at Dreams Punta Cana!! Very excited to finally have a wedding date!

We are in the process of sending out STD's and are doing it by email. We have price quotes good for only seven days and thought email would be the quickest way to let people know. Not sure how that is for wedding etiquette but I guess I'm not doing everything by the book! So we'll see how people respond.

I just want to be there already!!

Hello everyone!

Pam- that's pretty funny...always seems to work out that way. You'll be surprised who will come!

I've also been looking at an Alfred Angelo BM dress...the lipstick color is a nice pick!

Will you be replacing the BM that aren't able to make it?

Katie- that's a great idea on the boarding passes for STD! Working out is definitely a must for me as well. There always seems so much pressure for brides to look their best. Pictures last a long time! Do you have a workout plan?

Keight- we also just sent emails/facebook messages to get the info out. I think we had 2 weeks for people to secure their deposits. I find this way is the most effective to lock in the quote at such a short notice.

Looks like things are coming along for everyone!

no....i am just leaving us at uneven numbers. it is not the end of the world!

the boys side started off at 3 GM and the BM, and is down to 2 GM and the BM...so it won't be that far off!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
