San Diego Photographers?

Recommended Posts

My name is Natalie and I am from Minneapolis MN. My wedding is June 18th in San Diego. The wedding and dinner is taking place on a catamaran but we need to find a photographer! I only need the photographer for 5 hours (3 hours on the boat 2 hours before) and we need to keep it under $1200. Any suggestions would be GREAT!

Thank you!

Under $1200 will be a challenge in SD. The area is VERY expensive cost of living so most photogs start at about $5000.

The BEST in the area are:

The Image is Found

Tamara Lackey

Jessica Claire

Jennifer Dery is great and may be more reasonable price wise. (tell her I sent you)

Bebb Studios: Jen Bebb

My photographer is Trent at ProImage Weddings Photography | San Luis Obispo Wedding Photographers | Central Coast Portraits | Paso Robles| Los Angeles | San Francisco. He is based out of San Luis Obispo, up north...but is traveling to San Diego for my wedding. He's more $$ than you want to spend, but he's fantastic. The likelihood if finding a good photographer for only $1200 is not very good...especially based out of san diego. Another one you might want to try Faye Chapman at Faye's Captured Moments, based out of Orange County. She was our second choice...and I know from experience that she's willing to work with you. If you're willing to have someone take the shots and hand you a CD and nothing more, than that might help you get the price down.

Just a thought, but did you think about maybe bringing a photographer with youhuh.gif?

I just quickly did some pricing and it looks like to fly two people down to San Diego from Minneapolis and stay in a hotel would be anywhere from $700-$1,000.

Perhaps you could talk to some local photographers and see if they'd be willing to lower their costs for a beach wedding? And then maybe you could also do some day after photographs on the beach the next day? Or at the farris wheel or something fun!!

The plus here is that you're date is a Friday and not a Saturday since I guarantee most great photogs are already booked for Saturday but may not be Friday and may be willing to work with you on price. I love Stephanie Williams Photography but I think she starts around $4K sad.gif A photographer that I've personally shot with and recommend is Erika Earl. You can check her out at www.erikaearl.com

I'm from San Diego and did my research for local photographers for our engagement photos (we're using Del Sol Photography for Mexico).

But as far as San Diego goes, there are

1. Boucher Photography (GORGEOUS work): Bouchér :: The Wedding Blog San Diego Wedding & Boudoir Studio

2. Nicole Caldwell (she's doing our engagement photos!) Nicole Caldwell Laguna Beach Wedding Photographer, Boudoir Photographer Orange County Maternity

3. The Image is Found: the image is found . photo blog Such a fun couple of photographers from north San Diego.

4. Melissa McClure: Melissa McClure - Destination And Southern California Wedding Photographer --> gorgeous photos, great prices (we almost chose to fly her out to Mexico. I don't know if Melissa starts lower than $1200 for a full wedding day, but her assistant does the same high quality work and starts lower. check out their sites!

I talked to Jessica Claire, cuz I love her work, and her info is in one of the replies above. Very sought after!

Do more research of the local photographers in SD before flying out someone from your area. You may find someone with decent pricing here.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
