Canadian trying to head south!

Hi! I'm from N-O-T-L, Ontario in Canada and we're getting married in Punta Cana the first week of January 2011. We're excited and thought we had everything under control months ago.

We're trying to book now and get everyone coordinated and we're feeling super overwhelmed. Before things get too much further along, I'm looking forward to reading what others have done and trying to get some advice!

Hey Kara - you've definitely come to the right place! Try to just step back and take things one step at a time whenever you can. Whether you're getting everyone booked on your own, or using a travel agent - there's lots of ladies here who have done both and can definitely help you out.

p.s. I love N.O.T.L. and wish I was there to visit more often! I lived in Burlington for a long time and went to school in St Catharines! FI loved our summer trip back there and wants to go back for more wine tours soon :)

WELCOME! Don't get stressed - whatever question you have, ask it here (or research it here first) and it will be answered. I'm also from Ontario (just north of T.O.), and I thought I would never be able to get things coordinated. From my own personal experience, it was much easier working with a TA, as the hotels are much more responsive to them than to individuals. Plus, the TAs can negotiate deals that you wouldn't be able to get on your own. There are several who are members of this site, and therefore have TONS of experience and can offer lots of advice to you. Your choice of resort is going to be one of the most important planning decisions you will have to make, so go ahead and take advantage of the resources available to you. Before you know it, you'll be on to other more important things -- like picking a dress!! Good luck :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
