I'm starting to look at wedding details even though it looks as though it will be awhile for us (having visa problems for my fiance smile27.gif) but still trying to figure some details so I can figure out how much to save!

Has anyone here had a wedding at the ME by Melia? I saw one on the beach once during a cancun visit and it look beautiful! Can't find any info on prices or anything though on the website sad.gif

Any info would be great thanks!

I am getting married there in November 2010 :)

So far things have been great planning- a few hiccups but nothing horrible. If you want you can email my friend she is a ME wedding coordinator Cristiane (she goes by Cris) at cristiane.batista@solmelia.com and tell her Megan sent you her info for more specific info. She typically responds a bit slowly but

two three days. I also have a toll free direct number you can call from the US 1-866-640-9686 (let it ring a few times-it can be frustrating-but i swear ultimately you will get through- it just may take several attempts.

Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes.

Thank you so much! I saw one this past trip and it was gorgeous!! I love the contemporary atmosphere is so much like my SO and I. When did you start planning? We are **hoping** for next November 2011 but it looks as though we will have limited time planning it once the visa clears only like 6-7 months! But it will be small something like 30 people.

It's a nice hotel decor wise, very modern. I didn't like that when I went to check in they basically handed me my keys and were like get out of my face. Usually when I check in places the staff will have a bell boy or clerk take me to the room, or at least show me where the elevator was! I had to wait in another line just for someone to show me where to go, and they just handed me my suitcases for my FI to carry upstairs. So I went on like whatever.

The food was my main issue. I was on the EP because I booked a room on Priceline and they treated me like I was the odd one out haha. I went to eat lunch once and the only thing they had at ALL the restaurants was the same lame buffet because they were too "understaffed" for the a la carte items and they told me it would be forty bucks! Nothing more than little tiny bottles of water everywhere, and the food was always just meh. FI and I ordered room service one night and it was first 60 minutes late and arrive cold with no flavor. We just got guacamole with chips and two sandwiches and the guacamole was a gross brown color and the chips were stale....and 50 bucks. On top of that, the guy who brought it up to me stated that there was no service included, and when I looked at the bill it already included 18%!! And it was LATE! I wasn't happy.

The next day after New Year's Eve the Beach House was open and I went and got a burger that too forever and it was just okay. Breakfast buffet had a lot of choices but everything just tasted really bland to me. Not what I was used to in the other resorts!

Maybe I'm nit-picking but it definitely wasn't what I was expecting. I always wanted to stay here, and I just expected better service. We just had a basic room which faced the street, and none of the rooms have balconies unless you get the super deluxe type of suites. Beach loungers are always full and they don't have too many of them to get, becaue a lot of them you have to purchase for with bottle service.

Dunno, just wasn't for me. I think they are in a "growing pains" stage (to quote one of the other disapointed people from TripAdvisor) from going to AI from EP. I hope that it evens itself out. I don't know if the wedding planner has it more together, but the vibe from the hotel I just don't think I could put such a special day in their hands.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
