Just from experience, I recommend not lowering your rate to get people in the door and then increasing your rates. You will lose the client base that you build up.

What I would recommend doing instead is actually going through a pricing exercise and seeing what YOU need to charge. Know what your compitition is doing, but know what you have to do. Don't forget that Uncle Sam takes 40%+!!

After you have decided what you want to charge, then offer a "limited time" discount. That way your customers can clearly see what your prices are and what they will be and will not be surprised, offended, or turned off when you raise them.

Just my experience...

On another note, Sugar Shack is an adult website... so I would HIGHLY recommend you do go that route!!!

Sassy sweets is also already taken in the .com and the .net form... and facebook form, and webs.com and sassysweettreats. So really... I'd try and stay away from that too.

Little Slice of Heaven is also already taken.

delectable edible delights (make sure you spell delectable right :)) seems to be available, but it's a tongue twister

Sugar, Spice, and Everything Iced is also already taken... a lot actually.

I would recommend googling names you like. Also try godaddy and type in the web address and make sure that you can have it. Not necessarily that you'd want a website right away, but it's sure going to suck when you DO want one and you can't get one!

I like the names, but agree that you should look for something unique that doesn't have a negative online connotation or isn't available on .com or .net. Things like this suck... believe me I'm trying to set up an etsy shop and so many great names are already taken! Good luck in your new adventure, sounds like fun :o)

Great names! Make sure you try them in various places. I voted for Sugar and Spice and Everything Iced. My business name was really long for a website and the shorter version was already taken. Also it's surprising how many people spell [business name removed by moderator] as [business name removed by moderator], seriously people! You also can't use punctuation in an email address or website so people were confused with [business email removed by moderator]

Good luck with the business, it's great to find what you have a passion for and running your own business.

Congrats on the start of your new business, that's really exciting!! I think Trish has given you some fantastic advice especially when it comes to pricing; customer referrals are the best type of advertising and you don't want to suddenly piss off your new clients by jacking up the prices. A limited time discount is an excellent idea!

I think the great thing about this forum is how close we all become and how truly supportive we all are of eachother's business ventures, but I need to bring out my inner mod for a moment and quickly remind you of the vendor rules so you are aware http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...4-11-09-a-921/

I do agree with what you say. Everybody that I have had any interaction with from this forum has been incredible. As far as the vendor rules, I wasn't aware that I was breaking any. If I am, could you please tell me which one I am breaking and I do apologize.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
