Hey Everyone, I am looking around for a nice intimate hotel/resort where I can have a private wedding on the beach. 3 places have contact me and I would love you opinion on them.

Kona Kai

Little Palm Island

Pier House

Don't want to spend too much but I want to have a good time. Thanks for your help!

We're getting married at the Pier House this June. We went in November for a scouting mission and loved it most of all out of the 4 resorts we looked at. We're doing a private beach wedding, then having dinner on the restaurant deck with about 50 guests. The Event Coordinator is super nice and showed us all over the property to give us several options. I definitely recommend it!

Little Palm Island is on my list of places to stay at some point in my life, but it is extremely expensive! Its a private island only accessible by boat or sea plane. Currently there is a room sale going on at Jetsetter.com and the starting SALE price per night is $430 (normally rooms are $700+/night). I'm sure its an absolutely fabulous wedding location, but I can only imagine the cost of hosting a wedding reception there.

In Key West I've heard that the Pier House and Southernmost on the Beach are among the better large resorts. Beach locations are very limited in Key West, and they have them.

Throughout the rest of the Keys, there's the Islander Resort in Islamorada (I didn't get married there but many of our guests stayed there and enjoyed it). There's also Casa Morada, Cheeca Lodge, The Caribbean Resort, and Key Largo Grande - all popular wedding locations in the upper Keys. Unfortunately I've never heard anything about Kona Kai.

I am getting married in Key West this August and will be staying at the Southernmost Resort. I have never been to Key West and will be doing a scouting trip in May just to finialize plans, but I saw the Southernmost Resort on the travel channel and loved it. Everyone else that has ever been there also has great things to say about it. However, we are not getting married at the resort. THye have a beach area and a restaurant, but we chose to have our ceremony on Smather's beach (mostly for cost reasons) and then a reception at Louie's Backyard.

I also looked at the Cheeca Resort in Islamorada, but it was pricey and too far for everyone to drive. I preferred having a location that didn't involve too much travel. Good luck with the planning, it can get overwhelming, but it's a lot of fun too :-)

I'm kind of late to this thread, but if you're still looking around, we are getting married on Little Palm Island in late May. So far, our experience has been GREAT! We did one scouting trip and fell in love instantly. We've gone back one more time to meet with the wedding coordinator -- she is wonderful! Yes, it is definitely pricey, but we are only having 11 guests, so it's not really going to be very expensive. If you want an intimate location -- Little Palm is the perfect place! Good luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
