Has anyone had their hair and makeup done at Le Blanc? I'm wondering how good the salon's services are and whether I'll be able to communicate with the technicians or if I'll need to bring detailed pictures.

My wedding was at Le Blanc in May and I got my hair, makeup, and nails done in the salon on the day of my wedding.  One technician did all three services and it took about 4 hours to finish everything up. First she did my nails, then my hair, and my makeup last.

Regarding the makeup, I was really happy with the job she did. I didn't need to give her much direction with application. It was more makeup than I normally wear, but I don't wear much on a day to day basis and from my understanding you need to put a little more on for the pictures. I didn't need to bring anything as she had a ton of her own supplies in this large toolbox. But I was a little picky about my eyeshadow and lipstick, so I brought those with me and everything else used on me was hers.

As for my hair, I had a trial at home with my regular stylist a few months before the wedding and it looked pretty bad. That experience gave me pointers on what not to do and incentive to find LOTS of pictures of what I actually did want: an updo for thick hair that wouldn't be whipping around in the wind.  Le Blanc salon also has a book of bridal hairstyles from which you can choose something if all else fails.

My advice would be to know what you want your hair and makeup to look like before you go and have printed pictures in hand to show the technician.  While my technician did speak decent English, I don't know that I would have been able to communicate something fairly complex to her. Pictures need little translation so bring some if you can!

Aside from the hair and makeup, two women spent about an hour and a half steaming out my dress with their large sized steamer. I brought my own travel sized steamer with me and began to work on the dress in the spa before my appointment began, but I ran out of time and didn't really get many wrinkles out. They took over for me and made the dress look awesome! It feel like they went out of their way to make the hours leading up to my wedding as stress-free as possible for me and I appreciate that.

Overall, my experience at Le Blanc salon was really great!

I agree with her!  I just got married there in August and my hair and makeup was pretty close to perfect!!!  I would not go anywhere else or hire anyone to come in to do your hair and makeup.  Everyone at the resort is SO SO SO SO nice and goes out of their way to make everything perfect.  I think I would have felt guilty not using them!!  Here is a picture of my hair and makeup close up...my hair even lasted until the next day for my trash the dress pics.  And that was after lot's of dancing at Coco Bongo! :)

I did a "loose" hair trial right before our Thursday night party, so my hair would be fixed AND I could see how they did. I think that's a good idea!  The Spa at Le Blanc is one of the nicest I have been to.  Make sure you spend some time there!

Just wait on Diana!  She will contact you 2-3 months prior...that is MORE than enough time!  Trust me!  We had 50 people (it was their largest wedding they have ever had there), but they were pro's!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
