Trying to find the right resort help needed!

Recommended Posts

Hello!! We are trying to decide on a place for June 2011 in Riviera Maya.

We want a resort that has a gazebo? any suggestions?

Also we are expecting about 40-50 people. So we will need a resort that will be able to accomodate everyone, but not too expensive.

Thanks everyone!!!

Have you looked at the Riu Palace Riviera Maya? I know im biased as this is where we are getting married in May 2011. But it has a Gazebo and will accomodate a large party :-) Im sure plenty of more the lovely ladies will be along shortly to advise, But i definatly say RPRM :-)

Welcome to BDW and congratulations, Look forward to seeing where you choose.

I think you need to define not too expensive. I find all the resorts on the Riviera Maya that are nice are expensive. As for size, they are all massive so no problem there.

Beautiful Resorts with Gazebos:

Grand Palladium

Barcelo Maya Palace

Riu Palace

... to name a few.

Really, this is such a personal choice. You are going to need to do more research than just asking people here. Make a list of what is important. Things you need (like for me a perfect beach was a must have). Find out what each resort offers for the wedding. I narrowed my search down to two resorts and the one with the best price won. For me budget was extremely important. I wanted people to be able to afford the place so maybe I sacrificed slightly on fancy schmancy stuff.

Everyone is going to give you totally biased answers saying that their resort is the best. Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestions! I looked at RIU...it looks really nice and the prices are pretty good! Exactly I don't want people to spend a fortune! Also if it says the package includes all that stuff for 40ppl...what if you have more guests? Do they then charge a certain amount per guest?

We are looking to stay under 10K for all wedding expenses. Will this be possible at the RIU, Palladium and Barcelo Maya Palace?

Thanks so much!!

Our budget is about the same as yours. We chose a more "expensive" 5 star resort, the El Dorado Royale(although with group discounts and wedding packages it's turning out to be the same price as trips I've taken to other resorts in the Mayan) For my FI and I, we decided that since the setting and service will be so amazing we won't have to spend more money or time for extras like decor or expensive welcome bags for our guests as they will get the whole experience from the resort. Besides I want to limit the amount of stuff I try to cross the border with! I think paying a bit more up front will make me feel better about the service I'll get once I'm there. But I do agree with the other girls though, you have to do a lot of looking and research and talking with your FI and possible guests before you decide what's important to you and what resort fits your day. Good Luck!!

We got married at the Occidental Grand Xcaret in February 2010. They have a beautiful wedding gazebo overlooking the water. The resort is great, has lots of amenities, is friendly for couples, families, etc. Our experience with a having a wedding there was fabulous. The wedding coordinator, Marialma, is top-notch.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
