I am going to buy mine from Michaels. There are a bunch to choose from (casual to elegant) and they are pretty cheap.

Target has some really cute modern looking thank you cards. I bought some for a friend's baby shower and they had a lot of nice of choices.

If you want to wait until after the wedding to do photo cards, you could address the envelopes now as you receive the gifts and still send them out after the wedding - still less work!

  • 3 weeks later...

as long as you don't forget to send them out within a reasonable amount of time (i personally think they should be sent within one month), then wait until the wedding.

don't be that couple who waits 5 months or longer to send them out that it's just embarrassing.

if you are afraid you are going to forget. make up an excel spread sheet and keep track of who the the gift is from, what it is, when you received it, and when you mailed them a card. it may seem tedious, but it's a great way to remember...as i'm sure you know by now...there are a million things to remember.

Thanks! I went ahead and ordered some cute cards with just our first names on them. I like the idea of the photo card AFTER the wedding announcing our marriage. I may do that. Or maybe I will just send out a photo card as a THANK YOU to those who attended the wedding. I do like the idea of getting them out of the way now. I'm getting behind on my list though and it is stressing me out a little bit (since I have so many other things to work on). So I think I will try and knock these out this weekend!

I was in the same boat but only have received checks so far, so since it was a check I cashed it now and sent out a thank you card. But for gifts I would wait till after the wedding. You could pre-write them now and include the picture once you get back and then mail them out.

Hi Stephanie,

I just noticed you are from Houston and are getting married in SD. I was born in Houston and now live in SD! Ha! Funny. You are also getting married 1 week after me and 1 day before my bday. Just thought I had to point that out. Where in SD are you getting married?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
