We came home with our temporary marriage certificate that we actually signed on our wedding day, but here in Ontario (i'm assuming all Canada) you can't officially do the name change with the temporary certificate.  Or I guess I should say, I can't change my SIN, licence, or health card without the official document (which I just got). It's been a bit of a pain.

Yet.. I emailed my bank and basically said 'hey this is my new name' and they changed it for me. ;)

I still can't change my mortgage though without going to the lawyer with the marriage certificate, so i'm just going to hold off on that one.  We need a few months with no wedding-related bills! :P

Laura, I know I thought the exact same thing bc thats what I was told but I just tried it to see what they would do I just figured the worst they could say was no, but I had no problems at all using that paper, to change my SS# I was quite shocked it was so easy to change!  The guy at the SS office looked at the paper and my drivers license and asked me "so you were married in turks and caicos" and I said yes, he typed it in the computer and that was it, within a week I had my new SS card and from there got my license changed with the same paper no questions asked and it even says on the paper that its just documenting the fact that it was entered into the T&C goverments sytem

Ok so I got your request Brandy, I guess it is working now. Meggers I don't have your full name or I would add you too!

Laura wow, good luck girl, I am saying some prayers for you.

Started my seating chart and work out number with the rental company today for the tents and chairs. i have had some people back out so my numbers went from 140 to about 120 i think in the end.

Brandy I just checked out your AHR pics and they are amazing, stunning set up, it was sooo beautiful!

Name change uhhhh, i have only changed mine at work and on facebook so far lol What a headache it is. I wonder if there is a list out there for all the possible things we may have to change? i guarantee there are things we will probably all forget about.

Sherri I did get the deal, now to figure out these sites cause i have never done a photobook before, looks pretty self explanatory though so I should manage lol

All of my guest pics are on snapfish though which sucks cause now i have to upload some of them again to mixbook but a good thing is for my honeymoon book everything is on facebook and I can copy from there to mixbook which should take less time. Actually I may use mixbook for the honeymoon and snapfish for something else.

Looking forward to meeting you on June 22nd at the toronto get together. Laura are you coming?

Lisa i just sent you a PM :)

i found a great list today in regards to name changing over on Service Canada's website.

http://www.servicecanada.gc.ca/eng/lifeevents/marriage.shtml

work, facebook and the bank have been so easy to change a name!! lol the rest are a bit of a pain.

i think you can actually call to change your name with revenue canada, but then you have to go to a Service Canada location to change your SIN and then to a Service Ontario location to change your license and health card.

wish i could go to the toronto get together but it's too far for me - esp for a work night. being in bowmanville, it would probably take me almost 2 hrs to get to square one with rush hour on a weeknight. boo!  another time!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
