hehe over our meal on Sunday we were actually just talking about you guys having your thanksgiving so much later than us! I don't know how you guys do it having those big turkey feasts so close to one another! lol at least we get a couple months in between to work them off hehehe wink.gif

regardless, i am sure the next few months are going to fly.  i'm actually thinking of starting my little projects asap before it's feb and i haven't started!!!

on another note, my mom found me the coolest thing for my OOT bags yesterday at the dollar store. it's these little soap leaves - they're about an inch in diamater and paper thin. You just add water and you have laundry soap!  She thought it would be great for people to use if they want to clean their bathing suits throughout the week.

I know we do have them very close together.  I know for my family we usually try to do something different for Christmas rather than another turkey since we would have just had turkey for Thanksgiving.  A lot of times we'll do a big ham or even a roast pork or roast beef.  So, that changes it up which is nice!!

I love the soap leaves!  I need to start looking for little things... it's hard though because we still do not have 1/2 of our RSVPs yet... so I don't want to buy a lot of stuff and have it left over, or on the other hand, not buy enough because A LOT more people came in after things were purchased...

I am going to try to focus on deciding on a bag this weekend...

On another note...  I'm having a hard time figuring out if I should do centerpieces or things like that...  Is anyone else not doing them?  Also, what about music?  Are people having a big "music" reception after they get married or are some of you waiting to save that for your AHR?

Yeah my family does the same thing we have turkey for thanksgiving and then its usually ham and and stuff for Christmas and some times we have prime rib and lobster yummm.

Those soaps are a super cute idea! I might have to look into those.  I havent really gotten anything for our oot bags yet, I just purchased the bags last week and they will take 4-6 weeks to come in! So Im glad I went ahead and ordered them, I have only bought antibacterial from bath and body works and thats it, I dont want to start buying too much stuff until I know some sort of head count.

As far as centerpieces go mine are provided by the resort, so I dont have to worry about those, and for the reception at the DW Im considering just a calypso band or something, and then Ill have the DJ and everything at the AHR.

At this point, i'm not worrying about centerpieces. I really just don't want to have to lug all kinds of stuff with me and am not really picky about stuff like that.  Although who knows, that might change closer to the date. wink.gif

As for music, we're just thinking of having our ceremony music - i'm walking down the aisle to Big Mountain's version of "Baby I Love Your Way" hehe we love the reggae/Jamaican feel to it. It's fitting. :)  We're also going to make a play list to play on an ipod during our reception meal.  As for a big music dance thing after... we're not "dancy" people LOL so the plan is to just go crash the disco as a group. I hear that the one at our resort is usually dead so we think it will be fun to have the place to ourselves. :)  And as for the AHR.. again no dancing because i'm so not a dancing type of girl.. we're just having some sort of cocktail party or bbq :)

Were Doug centerpieces and I'm budgeting about $250 for them which I don't think is too bad. As for music were doing an iPod playlist which has me totally stressed out right now, I need to start putting it together but it's such an overwhelming task! Thank goodness for BDW forums and all their help!

Ps I cannot wait for thanksgiving! We also do ham instead of turkey for Christmas.

We are also doing centerpieces and are in the process of scouting out options that will not only look nice and fit our theme, but also be easy to transport in our suitcases.  Hoping to get inspiration at IKEA on the weekend.  We were quoted $200 US + Taxes to have centerpeices from the florist, which doesn't sound too high initially, but considering we only need about 4-5 centerpieces, I can't justify paying $50+ a centerpiece.  BDW has some great inspiration pics that have helped generate some ideas.

Can't believe less than 6 months until sitting on a beach with future hubby!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
