Hi Everyone,

I thought I posted on this thread before but I guess not.

I am getting married April 16, 2011 at Ceiba del Mar in Riviera Maya.  My FI and I went to Mexico in June to look at the resort and during that time we met with different vendors that our WC (from Tropical Wedding Experts) had arranged.  The outside WC used to be the WC for the resort and was highly recommended from a girl who was married at the resort in Feb 10.

My FI and I went back and forth with the resort to finalize the contract and officially signed with them by the beginning of July.  I see many of you are using a TA.  This forum is great but it also makes me double guess everything I do.  I didn't use a TA and my guests will need to use the wedding code to book the room with the resort and book their own flight.

We sent out our STD postcards a few weeks ago, website up but not finished 100%, engagement party is this Saturday, registered, and looking at getting the invites done.  Also went dress shopping the past two weeks and I have decided to have my dress made.

I also see most of you are sending the invites in January.  My issue is, 50% of the rooms must be booked by end of October and the rest must be booked by December or else the guests will not received a discount on the room.  Too early to send out invites in September?

We are not having a bridal party but will have my niece and my FI's two nieces as flower girls.

Thanks for all of your posts!

I'

Iâ€m also getting married April 16, 2011… Popular date

We are also planning to send the formal invitation by the end of the year, after Christmas, few months before the wedding, to have a final headcount.

And yes you are right; in order to get a good discount you guests have to book in advance.  The way we did, a month after we send the STD we hired a TA which gave us an "early-bird group discount" we then contacted all our guests via email, mail, and phone explaining the reason why they need to book their room in advance. I was very busy for two weeks working with my TA and my guests but at the end it was worthy! Now I know who is serious about coming. So far, we have 50 people and about 25 suites booked. As for those guests that missed the early booking discount, they all know they have until the end of the year, when I send the formal invitation, to let me know whether or not they are coming and they are basically on they own when it come for prices.

yay! so many new April 2011 brides here! :)

My original plan was to send out formal invites around Nov/Dec, however now that mostly everyone who I expected to come has already booked their trip, I'm almost thinking about sending invites w/ AHR info to everyone, but something different to those who are already coming - like a thank you and AHR invite?  I'm not 100% sure yet..

I'm going to send our invitations out at the end of September.  It's early, but we're hoping it will encourage people to either book or RSVP no, so we can have some idea of numbers!  So far about 20 people have booked, but we sent out the save the dates back in May, so I'm thinking of the invitations as more of a "reminder" :)  We're asking people to RSVP by January 31st.

Hi ladies,

I am newly engaged and moving quickly towards booking an April date for The Royal Cancun.  We were just engaged a week ago so we went into planning mode right away.  I am meeting with a travel agent tomorrw to confirm pricing and dates and will go from there.  I am here for any advise or tips you all may have.

Leah.

Welcome Leah! It seems you are off to a good start! I am getting married on April 26th, 2011 a the Now Jade Riviera Resort & Spa. If you know the resort you want then it's important for you to start communicating with them now to see if the date you want is available before booking anything.

I guess I did things differently and negotiated with the hotel on the prices instead using a TA to get the best price.  I didn't find this website until after I returned from my site visit to Mexico and could kick myself now.  Just praying everything works out.  I tend to worry a lot and lately all of my dreams are about the wedding!  Am I crazy??  HA

A family friend will be showing us a sample of the invites she is doing for us this weekend so I would like to send them out in September.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
