Erin - Thanks. Are you ordering the regular or over sized post cards? We got the over sized because we don't plan on needing any more that 50, and they are huge. But at least we won't have to worry about them getting lost in the OOT bags.

I ordered the regular size ones.  It was 100 for free, so I just went with it.  I figured I would put them in the OOT bags and then have the rest at our AHR and people can post anything from the AHR as well.

Hey Teira, I don't know if I'm too late in responding to the sand ceremony frame question, but I actually researched this a while back on some of the other forums and a lot of people do the umbra ether frame (in either wood or metal). Try doing a search in the forum and you'll find out how people are doing it and it's a lot cheaper than buying specifically a "sand ceremony frame."  Here's a link to it on Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/Umbra-8-Inch-9-5-Inch-Picture-Nickel/dp/B000FHHAU6/ref=pd_rhf_p_t_1

Basically you put sand in between two of the layers and then put a picture in the front section, and you can change out the picture anytime you want.  I haven't ordered mine yet, but that's the direction I'm going to go.

My FI and I actually checked something new off the list...while we were in Hawaii this last week he picked out a ring he liked for his wedding band! He's been totally dragging his feet about it, not being able to decide what he likes and then we saw this one, and he said that was the one!

How long do alterations typically take if I'm just shortening the dress?  I've been going back and forth on whether I'm going to wear shoes or not during the ceremony on the beach, but I'm sure I'll have to make the decision soon so I can get the dress altered.  Thankfully it's a corset top, so I don't have to worry about altering anything else.

Congrats ladies on all your accomplishments!

I got my order confirmation right away... I just haven't seen any sort of shipment confirmation yet?  In the shipping area of the website it says a Fedex tracking # will be emailed once the material is shipped. ??  Did you ever get a tracking number? Or did your flowers just show up?  Also how long did they take?

I have a reception question for everyone...  If this has been talked about before, tell me to go back through and read up on it..

What is everyone doing for their reception?  Are you having a sit down meal?  Are you having just a cocktail hour?  I was just looking through another members review thread and noticed she did a big reception (she had 43 people) and I was just curious what you have all decided (if you've decided).  I haven't completely decided but I was thinking of doing a private dinner (we have about 23 that have RSVP'd as going), but I'm trying to figure out how to involve music....

The shipping confirmation came from [email protected] so maybe it went to your junk mail?

hmmm ok. maybe i'll give them a call this afternoon.  their website says to expect delivery within 7 business days which is tomorrow. Still odd that i haven't recieved a shipment confirmation. I did check my junk mail and there's nothing. :(

Ella - we're still trying to figure out the at home reception details... ideally, I would love to have just a wine and cheese sort of thing in C's parents' backyard.  Their yard is perfect, but last time we mentioned it to his mom she wasn't keen on the idea.... then they said we could probably get the local Polish hall for free, but I do NOT want a reception in a hall. I think people would expect more of a meal and a dance at a hall and that's not what I want.  I really wish our back yard was big enough to accomodate the amount of people C (and his parents) want to invite, but unfortunately it's too small. So... needless to say, we have no idea. A part of me would be completely fine without anything at all! But there are certain family members who can't come south who would be heart broken if we didn't have anything at home too.... I figure I'll worry about all of that sometime in the new year. ;)

Erin

Not sure if you were looking for DW or AHR reception details....

We are doing a 30 min cocktail hour at the Resort and then from there a 2 or 3 hour private reception with a sit down plated dinner.

AHR we havent decided on, either a buffet style dinner, or maybe just a cocktail reception with stations, and just mingle around, not necessarily a sit down formal dinner, but we are still trying to figure that out.

For entertainment we will more than likely get a DJ for the AHR, and we are considering a calypso band for the DW, havent decided if Im going to get them for the cocktail hour or the private dinner though.

Ella - At the resort we are figuring that we will end up with about 30-40 people, so we are doing a cocktail hour immediately following the ceremony, a 2 hour break for us to take pictures, then a private buffet dinner on a terrace. We get the cocktail hour free with 15 booked nights and the private dinner free with 60 booked nights so we're really hoping on hitting that number early on. At our dinner we will have our traditional dances and then we're going to the resort disco to end off the night. If we get 75 booked nights we have unlimited free events, so we will add a welcome dinner and night before dinner.

We will be holding some sort of event when we return, not sure where or the style of it. We live in Niagara, my parents live in Ottawa and his parents live near Kingston, so who knows. I would love to use his parents huge back yard, but his mom hates having people see the house because it's smaller. I think it would be perfect as long as we had nice weather and could use the back yard.  But she probably wouldn't allow it. We really need to look for a venue.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
