Im planning the same thing, just a small cake for us to cut and then cupcakes for everybody else and also a candy bar for our favors :) That is about the only thing i have made my mind up about for the AHR , well that and doing a taco bar for the food to stick with the mexico theme

I would love to take on a more creative outlet, especially once babies come along!

Mocha I'm doing the cupcake thing with the bigger cake so we can cut it. I'm also setting out some vintage cake stands with french macrons in the wedding colours. Since it's a brunch it might be sugar overload, but I'm going to put out take away boxes if people want to bring some home for later. I like the fluffy, messy buttercream look so that's what we're doing. Rather than get a wedding cake place to do it I'm just getting them made by a kick ass little bakery in Oakville, Then I'm going to get some sugar cupcake toppers on etsy and put them on myself.

I'm also using pillow boxes filled with candy as the placecards with each person's name on it. Hubby and I are sugar fanatics so it's turning out to be part of the theme!

For decor I went to Value Village and loaded up on mason jars and found this awesome blue vintage tea set I'm going to put flowers in to decorate the guest book table. I also found candle hlders and vintage plates that I'm going to make funky cake stands out of. For centerpieces I'm going to put the pinwheels from the DW in the mason jars, put rustic painted pails out filled with hydrangea (I'm ordering in bulk online and just sticking the flowers in the buckets myself) and then puting out little bud vases with one white peony in each. I'm really excited about the vintage garden vibe that's shaping up!!!

Questions to throw out there:

Are you doing a guest book for the AHR?

Is it tacky to put out a card box for guests? I didn't for the DW and the result was everyone just carrying around their cards all night!

Wow Meggers, great ideas.

I think I want to do a wedding wish tree so that we can put them in a scrapbook later on. Plus it will add decor.

We didn't have a card box at our DW, and only a few people gave us cards there. The rest mentioned us getting our gifts at AHR. I wanted one of those photo card boxes, but since we've received a few cards already I don't want it to look like a gift grab. Maybe we can discreetly hide the card box as part of the wish tree?

meggers - we're using our same guestbook for the AHR that we used for the DW and we willl probably do a card box also since most of the guests at our DW will be bringing their gifts/cards to our AHR

Thanks TL!!! i am so happy with it.

Mocha, the pics are awesome, I love the pink crinoline you did!

For our AHR we are doing the 8inch round cake to cut with tiered cupcakes in our colors and buttercreme icing on the vanilla and chocolate cupcakes and creme cheese icing on the red velvet ones. The cake will have buttercream icing also!

Need a favor ladies. Another bride I know is looking for the waterproof pouches for her keycard/tip holders for the lanyards and I got mine off a bride here and don't remember where everyone got theirs. Can you guys give some ideas of the best places to order them? thanks

Eeeeek I leave for our honeymoon in Greece on Sunday, Sooooo pumped!

Hey ladies- so I'm reeaaally back now, lol! We got back from our wedding late night on Thursday May 5th, then left back out for Reno on May 11th- jeez I'm tired!! Unlike you ladies, I won't have my pro pics back probably until some time next month, but I know they'll be awesome! EVERYTHING was amazing- 100 times better than I could even imagine  love.gif.  I have a few of the guests pics, but I'm sure they're in no way compare to the pro pics, just wish I had some pro pics to show you ladies. I'm posting a few here and will hopefully get to a review this week & planning thread next week.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
