Grey's your pics are gorgeous. Congrats!

I was very happy with the extensions. The hair guy at my resort put them in and then curled everything together so they flowed a little better.I also wore them for my TTD but shortly after being in the water, the weight of them was too much and I had to take them out! Oh well I still can't wait to see those pics. It sucks having to wait till mid June to get them from Mexico.

As for changing resorts, I can't really make much of a comment as we stayed only one week during the same time all 46 of our guests were there also as we have planned our honeymoon in Greece in 16 days YAY!!!! Anyway, if they are staying the whole time with you then I might consider changing resorts to a more expensive one. The packing will be a bit of a pain but in the end you will get to experience two locations and many different restaurants while in the same part of the country. On the other hand if it is a large resort just upgrade and don't answer your phone lol and then have a romantic dinner on your balcony to escape the crowds. Just a thought!

Uh oh, we are switching to the Majestic Elegance! Yikes.  I can just hear the FI now "I told you so" ...but, end the end, these are friends we see all the time, and I want our honeymoon to be just about us, so I still think it is worth the switch.. I am going to read some review of the Majestic.  I thought it was supposed to be nice?  My TA highly reccommended it. :(

I'm not sure whether we got such amazing service at Excellence because it's always that amazing or because we had our wedding there and had booked a bunch of rooms.  Either way, we shouldn't have left.  To be honest though, the packing and unpacking wasn't such a big deal (although we had an extra round of it because we switched rooms at the second resort after the first night--another whole story, you can read the review on the Majestic Elegance review here), the main issue was how much worse the resort was. It probably won't totally feel like a honeymoon if you have that many people staying with you because you'll still see them around and probably have meals with them, but if they're close friends and perhaps you don't get to see them that often, you may really cherish that time with them because up until the wedding there was so much to take care of (meeting people for arrivals almost every day), wedding planning meeting and rehearsal with the coordinator, TTD the day after, etc.)  Just weigh your options and make sure you stay at an as nice, if not nicer, resort if you change.  And enjoy every moment, it goes by WAY too fast!!

We are already staying in the nicest room at our resort and all of our guest are booked in the same section so there's no room to upgrades to :(

Switching resorts - We did this.  We stayed 5 nights at the RIU with everyone else.  Then on Monday, we moved to Couples Tower Isle for 5 more days as a few couples stayed another day at the RIU.  I have to say, we did not think that Couples was all it was cracked up to me.  For us, it was to quiet and coupley (if that's a word).  All these excursions were included in the price (it was more expensive than the RIU) but we only got to do one as the sea was too rough to do the others so that really stunk!  The food was good at the other place but there wasn't near the selection as it was much smaller.  The beach  at Couples and was a 1/3 of the size at the RIU and was rocky.  It's not in a cove so go figure.  We decided we would probably not go back to a Couples resort. I think I had expected more from it as it costed more and is played up more.  I will have to say, that by going there, we saw two resorts with one flight and won't waste our time whenever we go back on Couples.  the staff was great but there were just certain things I didn't like about it.  I felt like it was too much of a hotel unlike the RIU.

It wasn't a hastle packing our things up as we sent a lot of it back with our parents.  I would say that if we had stayed at the first resort, we would have been just as happy and spent less money.

Good luck with your decision.

We just got home and it's after midnight so I'm off to bed, but I'll be back hopefully tomorrow to update you on our awesome (and honestly at a few times insane... oh god) wedding experience :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
