I got my aloe from amazon.  It's after sun lotion, with the aloe in it.  It was $1.99 each....

Do you ladies ever feel like you are over shopping/ over thinking your decor?? I feel like one day I like something and the next I don't like it anymore! With only 40 days til we leave I need to finalize things soon!!

I was going to get various sizes of paper lanterns in green and turquoise and scatter them around the ceremony site in the sand to add colour, with some smaller sized ones beside the chairs that line the aisle. What do you girls think? Would that look good? To balance it shoudl I add a coloured strip of tulle to the huppa? Ahhhh  I don't know!!!

Sorry... slight panic girl_werewolf.gif

Thanks for the BD shoot advice.  As far as the ceremony decorations, I wouldn't over think it. You're getting married on a beach for a reason, the natural beauty of the place should take care of a lot of the beauty of your ceremony, it's not like you're getting married in a sterile hall that needs all the help it can get. Personally, I'm just going with the flowers that the resort provides, I want everyone to be looking at me and my FI, not the decor. Keep in mind how much you already have to bring down with you and decide if these purchases are really going to be worth the extra effort and the money.  Just my two cents.

Thanks Ella!!!

Being in Canada it is tough to order that stuff online, because it costs an absolute ton to ship. In most cases it costs more than the product itself!! I've been waiting for it to come out at the dollar stores, but still no luck.

You're probably right. Our resort doesn't include any flowers. I am obsessed with not having a "typical" beach wedding so I've been really going out of my way to make it stand out. I am afraid it is driving me crazy though!

That's too bad meggers...  When I did the shipping I was able to get free shipping here in the states.  I know some of the other aloe links the girls provided had REALLY expensive shipping....but I lucked out with what I found!  Otherwise, I was going to be in the same boat as pretty much everyone else.

Oh I feel your pain! I said I didn't want a "typical" beach wedding either, as I love going to weddings with gorgeous decor. After seeing many pics of weddings at my resort, I hated seeing the "bare" looking tables all the time! However, after contacting the florist, I found out that even a little square vase with flowers in it is like $65! Now I see why everyone's tables at that hotel look so bare! I've tried to accept this in my mind, but I just can't do it- looks like I'll be bringing centerpieces down too...

Queen ~ EXACTLY!!! I am going way outside the box with the reception decor in order to have something unique on a budget. We are going "Vintage Whimsy" complete with Pinweel centrepieces, matching placemats made from the same scrapbooking paper, swirly pops and table signs made of the same paper and scrabble tiles (my FI is obsessed with scrabble). I am also ordering tons of buttons and plan to have them scattered on the tables as well as in jars to add pops of colour. I am still flip flopping on whether to also have some small floral centrepieces but I'm changing my mind daily. My vision of the reception is nearly there but the ceremony... not so much!

I feel like even though it's a destination wedding, it's still a wedding and it needs to reflect our personalities just like it would if we were at home!

In case anyone is interested, here is the paper that is the basis for the reception decor. I found a great seller on etsy who is making adorable pinwheels out of it for me. http://www.shopsei.com/largeImage.cfm?heading=0&cat=8&sub=297&product=3242

I've decided to rent white Chiavari chairs for the ceremony... now I just need to find a way to spice them up!

I actually agree with both of you ladies.

For our ceremony I want the beach to be the decor. We're not paying extra for flowers to decorate the space. They put up tulle around the gazebo for the wedding, and that's good for us.

But as for the reception/dinner... I didn't want the ugly fake flowers they use as centerpieces, or their printed menus... I've done my own centerpieces, and all my own print material. We're not going crazy and bringing linens and other decor because the cost doesn't make sense to us... but I totally understand girls who do.

I'm kind of on the fence :) I still want it to be MY wedding though.

Meggers - Try Wal-Mart.  We picked up Aloe in the travel section a couple of weeks ago.  Some locations have it in stock now in time for March Break.  Hope that helps!

Meggers - I think the lanterns would be pretty, but I would be worried about having to weigh them down so they don't blow away. It is so hard to figure out how much to bring and not be overwhelmed with luggage. As for the aloe, I almost think us GTA ladies should figure out how many we all want and just place a group order that one of us can pick up in Buffalo. But I will still be keeping my eyes open for a reasonable price locally.

On a positive note, my rings are finally back in Ontario! So hopefully FI will go soon to pick them up. Too bad, I will still have to wait a few more week until I go home to see them. And apparently when the jeweler called FI, he asked for cash.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
