Boy ladies, I wish I had more time to get on here.  I love reading all your posts.  It's amazing how you have all come to know each other through this blog.  My wedding seems so small compared to most of yours.  Anyway, need to finish cutting my favor tags this week.  I'm not doing placecards or menu cards.  I'm not even sure what's on the buffet for our reception dinner anyway since it's semi-private.  I'm excited about having my rehearsal or pre-wedding dinner with all my friends the night before.  I have a feeling it's going to be a blast.

Parent gift - We will most likely doing a wedding book from kodak or someplace afterwards as a gift to our parents.  We are paying for everything ourselves and I know they will definitely appreciate those,

Tenny I think wearing her ring is a lovely idea. I'm going to have two photo charms done up for my bouquet, one of my grandparents and one of his parents. Also I ordered all of my jewelery and my bm's jewlery including my hair piece from a seller on Etsy that donates money from every sale to the cancer society. Since we lost FI's mom to cancer I thought is was a nice, subtle way to honour her. It's tough to find a balance between including them, but not turning the occasion somber. Oh and FI's mom loved carnations so he is going to wear a carnation and button mum boutenniere.

You're so right Meggers, and great advice Tenny.  I'm so sorry for your losses.  I lost my father also a few summers ago and wear his diamond in a right hand ring.  It definitely will be on when we get married.  It is a bit tricky to honor them without turning the mood sad.  I plan to dance with my brother while my FI dances with his mom during our AHR, to "What a Wonderful World", my Daddy's favorite song.

Brandy, your gifts rock....not that I expected any less:)  They turned out great.

Ellabaja, sorry you're having a rough day!  At least the week is over half-way complete:)  I don't blame you for being irked at your FI's procrastination.  I don't think it's coded in men's DNA to be super task-oriented.  LOL!  Thank God for Sticky notes!  I'm also sorry your photog is giving you grief!  That was fairly ballsy to ask you to change your date.  Keep us posted on that situation!

Lisa, I like both, but I think the green rocks make the starfish standout more.  They tend to blend in with the white flower if you go with white.  Great job!  You ladies are so creative!

Mocha, I forgot to post a few back that I LOVE the NineWest shoes!  Plus, NineWests are usually pretty comfy.  And you can totally wear those again.!

Bailey, we're not getting our parents gifts, but we are hosting a brunch the day after our AHR.  I think we'll end up getting them photobooks with our Maui pics and our AHR pics together afterward.

Welcome back!  Don't worry about how small your wedding feels.....we're eloping and then having a reception at home.  So don't feel bad about writing your own rules:)

Kitty,

Where are you getting your cigars?  We're having a cigar table at our AHR, and are shopping around for good reasonable cigars.  We originally wanted a cigar-roller.....but then realized we'd have to fly one in from Miami.

That was me!  Are Oh Nuts! and Beau Coup local places, or an online places?

I knew it was someone, Ella!  just checked my emails & saw that I mixed up one of the places I got my candy from. I actually got the swirly pops from Favors and Flowers (sorry!). Oh Nuts and Favors and Flowers are online. I'd never heard of Oh Nuts, but when I found it, the prices seemed a little cheaper.

Well, I am getting married in Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.  I was there last Summer which is where my FI proposed.

I love cuban cigars but the Dominican ones are really nice as well so we will probably do a box of each.  Anyway, fortunately for us, most all of the resorts have little "flea markets" on the beach (I've confirmed that ours does) and they all sell them and make really good bargains with you.  We also tipped our pool waiter nicely throughout the week, and on our last day he actually brought us some as a gift!  Dominicans are really nice!  So, long story short, we are purchasing them when we get down there.  Cuban cigars are not allowed in the states.  So there is no way I could purchase any of those before we left.  I considered having a cigar roller at our beach party, but I don't think we have enough cigar smokers in a group to justify the cost. I am also going to buy little bottles of dominican rum once we get there for oot bags.

Wow, I feel like it's been forever since I posted on here.  I have been reading whenever I could get a moment to stay up to date.  I think you all are doing awesome with your projects and staying on top of everything. I too can't believe we can say "I'm getting married next month!" So super excited.

I've finally decided to let go my stress about my family coming or not coming.  I've finally got it through my head that on April 25th, my FI and I wil exchange vows and start our lives together, whoever is there is witness it and wants to share that very special moment, great, and whoever chooses not to for whatever reason (rational or not) that's up to them. I have to say that I'm feeling much better now.

So, last weekend I finally put together all the things for my OOT bags and took a pic that I wanted to share:

Do you think they look like there is enough? I know our wedding party is really small, but I feel like that would be a reason to fill it with more stuff.  BTW, since we are so small, I now realize I've got extra bags and extra first aid kits.  I'll try to take them back to the dollar store, but if anyone is interested, let me know.

Kitty, was it at Excellence that they had a flea market on the beach? I think I remember that's where you said you got engaged.

Lisa, I actually like the white rocks because it makes the blue starfish pop more.

I forgot who asked about the shoes, but chalk my vote up with the rest of the 9West, so much more fun.

Brandy, you're gifts look great. It's so wonderful how you are personalizing everything.  I'm sure all your guests and bridal party will feel so special to have been recognized in such a way.

Erin, sorry about your crap week, AND your photographer, that is so lame. I'm flying my photographer down as well and I couldn't even imagine her asking at this late point in the game to change my wedding date? Not to mention the costs you would incur from every which direction. Totally lame, not to mention unprofessional.

I haven't seen either of the sites before, but just quickly looking at Favors and Flowers, this could be trouble!  Looks like a great site!!

Francine, it has been awhile, I've been wondering where you were at!  I think your OOT bags look great!!  On our photographer... she's not asking that we change the date of the wedding in Mexico, but our AHR.  After talking with FI tonight, I think we are going to push our AHR back.  The venue that we wanted (and FI really likes) may be available the weekend after, so we might switch it.  FI is going to find out more about the availability for the following weekend...  It's slightly frustrating, but we'll figure out what works for us....

So glad to read that many of you are flying your photographers down too!! All my co-workers think I was crazy when I told them I was bringing our own photographer.  LOL!

Well, at this point for me, it's the only one on my side that will be at the wedding...I've known her since 8th grade and it'll be nice to have an old friend there with us.  She's actually doing my BD shoot for me in 2 1/2 weeks EEK!  Still would like to drop another 5lbs before then.

Thanks for the compliments on my OOT bags, I think the problem is I started shopping for them so early on that since I'm 50 days out till we leave, I keep feeling like I should buy more :)

For the girls who've already done the BD shoot, did you bring any props or anything, or just the sexy lingerie?  I was thinking that after seeing some sample shoots online, I might pick up some fake rose petals (in blue of course...our wedding color) from the dollar store and strategically place them for a couple of shots, what do you think?  Now that I have my homemade Laker Girl outfit, I'm contemplating picking up a pom pom, although I think they dance more than use those.  Any ideas on that front?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
