Queen, I think flip flops are a great option...I would definitely see about getting some if you are even remotely interested....  They would make pictures a little cuter for sure!!  I also wanted to ask you, are you doing the candy buffet for your DW or the AHR?

k, I have an AHR question - now that i'm doing one..

we don't want to do formal dances or speeches or anything... we're not hiring a dj, just going to play music from our ipods.  honestly, if i didn't know FI's friends would come and give us all kinds of $ (which we could really use), I wouldn't even have an AHR.  Essentially it's just going to be a big polish feast (FI's family is Polish) at the local Polish hall because his parents didn't think a bbq was good enough for their friends who are going to come and give us $.

I'm wondering how we can go about wording our invites so that guests know that this isn't going to be a traditional wedding reception with the dance and stuff, but just essentially a dinner???  being that it's at a hall, I'm pretty sure everyone will assume the dance and stuff.  i like this wording:

You don't need a ticket
or an advance reservation,
just make waves
to our wedding celebration.

LAURA
and
CHRIS
will be married on
April 9, 2011
in
Negril, Jamaica
Please join them for a traditional Polish feast
when they return
DATE at TIME
LOCATION
ADDRESS
CITY, STATE

Should we include something else on the invites -- like "no dancing shoes required" (wow that sounds awful lol) ?????????

i'm at a loss!

Laura, I think that wording is great because it does mention that it's a Polish feast. You might want to omit the part about the advance reservation though if you are planning on sending RSVPs. Because you will have music there might be some dancing, but maybe you could just have the informality of the event spread through word of mouth. Just like with gift registries.

Yes, I think I'm going to definitely go with flip flops w/a slight wedge. I'm doing the candy buffet for my DW- just ordered all my candy over the weekend.

First my centerpiece. It's pretty much done. I like things in 3's, as you can see. The one thing that will change is the brown flower will be white flower ball with feathers (a larger version of the small one) and it will be filled more with jewels, seashells & those neato wicker balls, haha. Also all 3 containers will have turquoise LED lights in them. It's just tough to find them in Canada (and shipping from the US costs more than the lights themselves, ugh).

And a close up....

Now for my shoes! I gave up my search for pretty turquoise shoes that were less than 3" tall and got something neutral that matches my dress (which is champagne with mocha accents)

And my wedding jewelry (bracelet & earrings)

And finally these are our hair flowers, mine in the middle & the girls on either side...

I LOVE your centerpieces.  How creative!   I hope I can come up with something like that.  Is that all glass?  How do you planning on getting it down there?

I've decided on having a candy/cigar table at the Beach party for my DW.  I am doing skittles which are my FI's fav, I think I'm going to do my "mint to be" matchbooks, I have personalized matches that I want to put next to a box of cubans and dominican cigars, and I think I'm going to order the personalized swirl pops from oriental trading.  They look cute.

kitty - It's actually ALL plastic woot.gif! I've seen so many amazing centerpieces on here but there was no way I was bringing glass down with me. It's so risky and I didn't want to be babysitting it. SO, I got creative. The tall "vase" is actually a plastic pasta container that we pried the lid off of off. The smaller ones are all storage containers for food that I got at the dollar store. I just glued ribbon around everything to dress it up a bit :)

I have 3 of the tall ones and they cost me $7.99 each. I'd be totally willing to sell them after we get back if they make it back with us. The small ones were all between $1-$2.

And thanks everyone for the compliments! I'm really happy with how they're turning out.

Brandy - I think I am going to get wrist corsages from the resort for the mothers.  This will also help to cover there resort wristband for pictures since they aren't allowed to take it off.  Also, I am having them both carry in sand for the ceremony.  I am having each one bring up there sand to "pass off" to us for the ceremony.  I am using a black vase and a fuschia vase which are my colors with a clear monogram vase for the unity vase.

The thing is she really isnt a piece of work, she just really doesnt have a clue I think! The girl has like no common sense or something, and yes FI did say he was going to say something to her, he was pissed and thought it was completely ridiculous!

Laura, I like your wording, did you check verseit.com they have a done of ideas on there go under wedding then under post wedding receptions I think it is

....back to FSIL, not only did she invite her friends, but also asked if we could change the date!! We had originally picked the date bc it was the ONLY weekend she had off in march according to her, and now shes saying she cant get off and asked my friend to change the date after she has already booked the limo and called everyone on my list!!! My friend was like uh NO, we picked that date for YOU, so sorry if you cant make it LOL!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
