SO, FI and I basically said from the beginning that we would be ok with anyone that wanted to come to the wedding...  We have a few guests that have significant others that we haven't met, but figured whatever - if it'll make their vacation better we'll deal with them coming.  Of course we only said this to each other and did not broadcast it, and we figured that only people we cared about would spend the $$ to come as our resort is on the pricy side....

Well - yesterday FI got a facebook message from someone that we went to highschool with and haven't talked to since!!  We are 30, by the way - and neither one of us was friends with him - he's honeslty crazy and into some crazy drugs - oh and his gf is my ex's sister who has also been to rehab on a number of occasions and I haven't talked to in about 8 years...

Well, he said to FI - "we're thinking of taking a last minute vacation and we'd love to come to your wedding!  Which resort are you staying at in Jamaica and what are the dates?"

Seriously????

I don't think people quite realize that we're spending a lot of money on this wedding. Between the booze cruz, the welcome bags, favours and the extra $70/ per person for the reception we are spending well over $200 per person! I don't want to spend $200 each for random people to show up at our wedding!

This is absolutely insane!  I couldn't imagine having the guts to do something like this....  I think you should give them different dates and the same hotel, or the same dates in a hotel in a completely different area!!!

I know, eh!?!  Luckily FI is going to handle it...  His attitude is that he doesn't really care if these people are insulted and never speak to him again, cause they aren't friends in the first place!  But it's still an awkward situation to put us in to have to tell them that they can't come.....  I mean come on!  We had to cross people off our invite list cause it was up over 120 - these people wouldn't even come close to making the cut!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
