April 2011 Brides

Hi Brandy,

Well we are getting married at the Iberostar Paraiso Beach on April 6th. So far we have about 35 people booked due to the really good group rate that we managed to get from one of the BDW Travel agents! My greatest headache right now is trying to get everyone's info and credit card info to finalize the bookings (everyone has just put deposits down so far). Final payment is due on Feb 7th and as of today if someone were to book the same package on their own online then it would cost them about $400 more per person!!!

Other than that, we will be having a private reception dinner with 2 menu choices (our guests can choose their entree when they rsvp on our web site). I have chosen my flowers, I have my dress (it just came in so now need minor alterations), my FI has his linen suit (he still needs a shirt), my mom and dad both have their outfits, we won't be having a wedding party so don't need to worry about that.

Just the other day my photographer actually bailed on me (said she had a family matter come up and will be out of town during our wedding). So she has refunded me my deposit and I have spent the last few days emailing other photographers for their pricing and availability. Fingers crossed that I can have that dealt with this week!

My girlfriend is currently planning my shower (which I am really on the fence about because I feel like I shouldn't be asking for anythign due to the fact that everyone is already paying to come to the wedding).

I don't think I will be doing OOT bags.... our budget is getting really limited and I am also finding out how much room they take up and that we would need to transport it all down there. I am trying to figure out what else I could do instead.... still thinking about that one!

My FI's brother is also in a wheelchair and so that brings us a whole new set of challenges and plans to make but he could never imagine getting married without his bro by his side so we will do anything we need to make that happen.... fingers crossed it will all work out.

Oooo we just got some great news!!! the price has dropped on our trip!! One of the perks of booking so early was that we get to take advantage of 1 price drop up to 60 days before we leave.  A few weeks ago, it had dropped $30 a person so we passed on it.  Just got an email saying it's now dropped $130 a person and Sunday is our 60 day cutoff so we're going for it!!! our guests will be sooo happy!

I don't know if anyone is still planning on doing a Vistaprint order, but here is the latest offer I got today:

http://ebm.e.vistaprint.com/c/tag/hBNRqbqAZdBOAB8X629CUztHj0Q/doc.html?email=francinemichelle@fortuityproductions.com

It includes free brochures, FYI.

Erin, my vistaprint order with the inserts will be here this week, probably by tomorrow, so I should be able to put your package together by the end of the week, I'll let you know shipping.

I feel like I have no free time these days, any time I get on here to post I spend all the time catching up on past posts and then I'm out of time! Guess I should have appreciated my free time when I had it. We still have to get my FI's clothes, FMIL clothes, put together our cake topper (have all the parts, just to need to do a lot of hot gluing), BD shoot, create the guestbook from the few engagement shots that are usable, make some final decisions on flowers and stuff for the resort, and put together some decoration things with photos from when FI and I were kids.  I filmed a wedding once where the table numbers corresponded to pictures of the bride and groom when they were that age eg table one had pictures of each of them at 1 year old, table 2 they were two years old, etc.  Even though they didn't grow up together, it was so cool to see how they aged and went through their different stages of life.  Even though we're thinking of having one big table on the beach for our reception, I'd still like to create some little collages to put out.  I have a feeling that this DYI project is going to be very time consuming.  I've finally decided to put an end to the OOT bag buying, just looking at the huge pile of stuff in my closet makes me realize I won't be able to bring any clothes if I buy anything else!

Thanks for the info on glamorose.com, I think I'll be purchasing some items for the BD shoot there.  Their prices are extremely reasonable.

Can't believe tomorrow is February 1st, we can say we're getting married in about 2 months! Time really does fly as we get closer.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
