Lua, that's awful!

I agree with all you ladies on cheaters... I just can't understand them! You cannot possibly love someone if you're willing to put them through that. Thankfully, in all 3 of my past relationships I've never had to deal with it. I'd probably lose it.

Welcome and congrats!!  You had mentioned in a later post than your initial one that you weren't planning the private reception and what not...  When I first came on this board I saw a lot of people doing things I hadn't thought of and I was like, gosh, I have to do all of that?  Then I found these great ladies and they were just like, "No - do whatever you want!"  So, I'm in the same place where I don't have to have a big private reception in Mexico because we are having an AHR and I want to make that extra special.  I think we are just doing a dinner at one of the restaurants at our resort.  I am doing a little bit of music for the ceremony and everything, but not a lot of extra stuff.

Regarding the photographer, I wish we were closer in date because I would recommend the photographer that we are bringing with us.  We too originally looked at getting a photographer down there but their packages just didn't provide the time and number of photos we were looking for.  We found that it was cheaper in the long run for all that we are getting from our photographer to bring her with us and she's doing two full days in Mexico, then doing a full day here at home when we have our AHR.  Plus, we had a two our engagement session.  We are paying for her trip, but all things considered, it's worth it.

I hope you find someone that works for you though!  Sorry I can't help much.

I have my dress and my bridesmaids dress, scheduled alterations, and I am desperately searching for a photographer.  It's been hard to find one thats open and doesn't cost a fortune.  I'm actually quite surprised at what photographers charge in Mexico.

Anyway....if anyone has any "watch outs" or "dont forgets" for me, I would greatly appreciate it.  I feel like I haven't done enough to wedding plan.....

Wow, ladies, I'm sorry to hear about all of that...  I was in only one serious relationship with the guy cheated on me.  When I found out, I left the apartment we lived in and just ended things.  I too had to spend some months on myself and figure things out because I had been in the relationship for over 2 years and it was what we wanted, as oppose to what I wanted.  Guys are such dirtbags some times... but, it's what leads us to those we are marrying!!

That makes sense why I would know it then, since I live about 45 minutes away from Montreal.  It sounds like a good thing to me if you guys are getting so much snow!  Is there a lot of resistance from people that surrond you??

Personally, I would not want to have to pay $1K plus for winter tires. I think it has more to do with driving sensibly in poor conditions. I've driven on all seasons and with winter tires and don't see much difference. In my opinion it should be more important to get bad cars off the road. It's always such a pain when you are stuck in traffic and then discover it's all because someone's 15 or 20 year old crappy car broke down in the middle of the highway!  Too many people don't take care of their cars and are just causing a road hazard.

I would probably have bought a set of winter tires this year, but I'd rather spend the money on our wedding vacation!

Brandy- I've gotten about 15 rsvp's, about 5 yes's from people who have already booked and about 10 no's from people I knew for sure wouldn't be able to come. Our RSVP date is February 1st in hopes that afterthe first of the year andtad returns more people will be able to RSVP Yes! I got two of my best friends invites returned to my house yesterday and one of them had been ripped out and the person also ripped open the pocketfold in order to get the passport out to read it. Kind of creepy! How are your rsvp's coming along?

Thats great!! That is really weird about that invite being opened up, its possible they thought it was a christmas card or something since its glittery and thought there was money in there or something, either way creepy and scary!

RSVP are coming along not so good Ive only received a total of 6 RSVPs 2 yes's and 4 no's, our RSVP date is for Jan. 20th, I dont understand though like the people who have already booked why arent you sending me back your RSVP, I need to know their meal choice and travel dates so I dont understand like why are you holding onto them you know and for those who def arent going why havent you sent them back, I'd like to get a head count asap so I can stop overbuying stuff for my oot bags, Ive already overbought some stuff I think.  And I have to get a spreadsheet back to the resort for the names and meal choices by I believe Feb. 16th

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
