after reading everyones insights (thanks girls) i'm still on the fence about the registry thing lol  i mean there are things i do want like the ever famous kitchen aid mix master, a new blender and food processor... but we simply don't want things like fine china and such.  I never thought of new linens and such so maybe we will just bit the bullet and go register somewhere in the new year with hopes that we'll maybe get more gift cards instead of actual gifts.I don't want to sound bratty or anything but I just don't really want people to buy us stuff like china bowls or something... it's stuff like that which we'll just never use.  oh the joys that come along with getting married!! wink.gif lol

ps. today is 5 months until my wedding day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Thanks for the opinions ladies! This is gonna be the toughest decision I make through the entire planning process!!!

Lua- that dress is super comfy and it is by far the lightest dress I have tried on, it will certainly be easy to take on the plane

Lisa- thats awesome about the eye surgery, both my parents got it done and they love it as well.

Brandy - both dresses are amazing!  I'm with the others - either way you will be choosing an amazing dress, but I think I like 2 for the beach wedding - it will prob be more comfortable.  And plus, it makes your waist look TINY!!

We decided not to register for our wedding...  We don't want people to feel that we are expecting gifts.  My shower is this weekend, but it was easy cause I'm flying to the other side of the country for it, so I'm pretty sure most people will give gift cards so I don't have to lug things back on a plane...  I was really torn about having a shower, but my MOH surprised me with a plane ticket home and told me I have no choice - most of my friends from home aren't able to make it to the wedding so they wanted to do something for me....  So sweet!!

Brandy - and you might as well be comfy on your wedding day right??? wink.gif  I liked mine so much because the corset top held everything in for me so i won't be standing there sucking in my tummy all day! lol  i'm worried about mine on the plane though.. it's not heavy but it's so pouffy!! here's hoping some of that bulk will be gone after I get it shortened

I was on the fence as you girls are regarding registering because FI and I have lived together for 3 years, and he was previously married.  There was no a lot of stuff that we needed or even wanted...  I decide that when we regisitered we'd just get some "new" stuff...  We didn't put a lot on the registry and my hopes is that we'll end up with cash if people decide to buy...  I feel weird about getting gifts when many of our people are going with us to Mexico...

Lisa - That's great to hear about the surgery!  My brother and SIL both had it done up in Canada due to the price difference at the time and they both really liked it.  I know my brother has actually had to go back and have some corrections made, but he had it when he was in his mid-late 20s and they do not recommend it until you are a little older, just because your eyes change.

Brandy - Your dresses are both beautiful, what a decision you have!  I think I like the first one the best, but I like the second one better for the beach wedding...  such a decision!

We are going to be doing a registry for my shower and AHR because most people who can't go south with us will want to get us something. And I totally want a kitchenaid mixer :) and an espresso machine !

Brandy- I loveeeee the second dress! Specially with the straps! I think it looks more comfortable and beachy not that you have to go with a heavy dress at all. Tough choose though because they are both great! Can't wait to see what you decide

Brandy - LOVE them both but I'm leaning towards the 2nd one... it's so beachy & romantic but at the same time super elegant!

FI & I have lived together for 5 years or so now so we do have *most* things, but a lot of it is still hand me downs from our parents & family... we slowly buy new stuff but the registry will be nice so we can upgrade a lot of the hand me down items... like the mixer we got from my mom that was her and my dads wedding gift (and evidently just stopped working, haha). Plus we registered for a few silly things that we'd love but don't expect (like a romba vaccum cleaner!!). Plus... it's fun running around the store with the gun "window shopping" haha.

2nd dress!  2nd dress!  It is a more flattering fit and makes you look like a totally beautiful bride.

We registered for gifts too.  We invited everyone that we would have invited to an at home wedding, knowing that most would not come and that family definitely would come, and hoping to grab a few stragglers with vacation time to kill.  So I don't feel weird about having showers (two planned already) because if they want, they can come to the wedding!  Plus, we only just moved in together and we need lots of stuff!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
