What about you ladies? Registering or not?

Tris, we registered about a month ago now...  I had FI do it with me towards the end of Sept beginning of October because I knew half way through October he'd lose interest because November starts hunting season...  I wasn't completely cool with doing it because of the whole DW, but I know my girls and mother are planning on doing a shower for me, so I figured we might as well register and get things we picked out if people are going to buy us stuff....

Brandy - I LOVE THE DRESS!!  (Yes, that had to be said in caps!!!!!)  It's kind of long for the beach, but they can do alterations to have the train permanently put up (it's called something...french something, I can't remember it though), so it doesn't drag across the sand and get super dirty.  I really, really like it though!!!

We are still undecided about the registry thing.  We obviously don't expect gifts from those who are coming south with us but I do think my mom or MIL are thinking about the shower thing and the AHR.  Our big problem is that we don't really know what to register for?!  can I register for a new tv and dishwasher?? lol

I've had my own home for 4 years now, FI moved in this past summer, and we don't really need a lot of stuff.  So we're really not sure.... is there such a thing as a registry for gift cards only?

Brandy- Gorgeous dress!  I love it!  I think one-shouldered dresses make brides look tall and thin.  I think it's called a French bustle to keep your dress up in the back.

Lisa- I just saw your resort choice.  My good friend and her FI just got back from spending a week at the Now Jade and said it rocked!  They travel a bunch and said it was one of their favorite AI resorts.  Just a fun FYI.

Lua- We're in the same boat.  I've owned my house for 5 years and my FI moved in in April after we got engaged.  What if you register for new stuff?  New dishes and decor can be fun:)  Or, do you have any house projects you'd like to complete and you can register at a home store like Lowes?  I'm not sure if we'll register or not.  We are going on our weddingmoon without any guests, but I still feel a bit weird about it.  I was married when I was 21 for 5 years and I'm not sure if that's why I feel funny about registering or not.  My FI hasn't ever been married, so I don't want him to "miss out" on anything, but I still haven't reconciled my feelings on the registry.

I think even if you've been living together or had your own homes, there is always things you need. For example, it's always nice to have new towels and bedding. It's also a good opportunity to select fine china and glassware. Plus, double check if it's time for a new coffee maker or toaster. You don't even have to register for expensive items, there's always new kitchen gadgets.  And yes, Lua, you can register for a new tv or dishwasher, and gift cards. Just walk around the store and I'm sure you'll find things to add.

If you are still planning for the location of your wedding maybe I could help you with that, Why don't you try Boracay Beach Wedding? April is already summer here in Boracay and the best Month to have the wedding at the same time vacation and honeymoon. I would recommend Zoe Mei Resort Boracay which offer budget Wedding package, it has private beach, Mountain View garden and conference hall, perfect for wedding venue to enjoy the privacy. You can email me for more information at [email protected]  Thanks

I went through the same dilemma about registering because we have lived together for so many years and we bought a house a little over a year ago and had a housewarming party so I feel like theres nothing we really need to put on a registry, I thought about doing a honeymoon registry but Im still undecided.

Ok ladies now onto my dress dilemma lol... so I went dress shopping again last night and tried on several more dresses and wouldnt you know the last dress I tried on I fell in love with! So then I had her pull the desirae, the one posted above and I tried that on again and I equally still love that one, Im actually in love with two dresses, how could this happen?!?!?

So i would really appreciate any and all opinions, I have a lot of thinking to do!

Oh yeah I finally got pics of me in them (camera phone so kinda crappy)... so the first one, the desirae... which is a satin a-line a little more heavy than the second dress, the second dress is also a maggie, the vanessa and its a flowy chiffon dress, I may end up changing the band around the waist to white, right now its oyster.

Desirae

Brandy - although i love them both, i'm finding myself leaning more towards the Vanessa because of the lighter flowy fabric. it just looks soo comfy too!!! either way though, you've got to amazing dresses there! Maggie is the best!

Greys-I am soooo happy to hear that. I fell in love with the website pictures and just booked it without really doing much research first which is soooo unlike me! But i am glad I did because I have heard 99% good things about this resort.

Brandy-OMG girl you have a tough choice here. I love them both. I think the first one is sexy and form fitting (FI may like that more) but the second one is flowy and elegant and more beach style/goddess style. You look fab in both and couldn't make a bad choice either way. BTW you look super skinny like the skinny ass model in the pic in the third pic of the second dress. Good luck. I think I am leaning more towards two. Beautiful detail and comfy but then again if I could have found a dress with a hoodie and pockets I so would have bought that one lol

Ok I am totally stuck on the gift registry thing also. I have just been avoiding it all together and hoping that word of mouth gets around that cash is best for us. I am in denial mode I think though. I have told some of the people coming down south that their presence is enough for us but I know some still may want to get something. Then there is the AHR. My fiance is portugese so they are used to giving cash or gift cards so I don't think I need to worry there. I don't think I am having a shower so I don't need to worry about that. IDK!!!

Oh and FYI, I just had laser eye surgery and it ROCKS!!!! I can't believe I can see 20/20 without glasses or contacts. This will really help in my TTD shoot lol

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
