That really stinks greysgirl! Well at least you are able to easily change your plans, and by the way the cayman islands are gorgeous!! That was one of our picks.

Wow Lua - I was kind of upset when I learned that my sis's fiance was going on a trip down south will all of his friends rather that my wedding (he told me he couldn't get vacation time, and then they booked their vacation for 2 weeks after our trip).  I can't imagine if it was my actual sibling that did that!  Good for you for having a good attitude about it though!

Greysgirl - that's rough!  At least you found about it before it was too late to change your plan!  And it's stuff like this that makes it so much easier to be travelling without guests......  I hear you girls - most (if not all) of the stress I'm trying to avoid is coming from the guests

that sucks Greysgirl!! thankfully you can easily change your plans.  I've never been to the Caymans (or anywhere at that lol) but hear it's amazing!! :)

Ismith - thankfully i'm a pretty laid back person, esp. through this wedding planning process. FI and our parents are the only people who I desperately wanted to come and they have all booked. Even my 75 year old grandma and 72 y/o great aunt (her sister) have booked!! HUGE BONUS! If siblings decide to book later on then I'll just take that as an extra little plus! It won't be the end of the world if they don't come.. they'll just be the ones missing out on the week-long partay! wink.gif

Man, I was away from the board for about a day and a half and I feel like I have missed a lot....

I'm sorry to hear about all the problems you ladies have been having...  For me, no one had booked up until about two weeks ago, and since then, we have 9 or 10 guests booked!!  All of my girls (three total) but my MOH have booked, but my MOH is booking next week.  She has been out of work on maternity leave for the last three months and wanted to wait until her first paycheck hit her account.  Everyone has pretty much been upfront about whether they are going or not except for my grandmother on my mom's side (who told my mother today she wasn't going), and a few of FIs relatives... like a brother and his parents...  But, I've developed a no-nonsense attitude and have not allowed things to bother me when it comes to that.

The only person I am disappointed about them not coming is my brother (and only sibling).  But, I also understand.  He has a set of twins who are not quite two years old, and things have been a little tight financially.  I know he'd go if he could do it, so that's the only reason I'm okay with it.

Brandy - How did your dress shopping go???

Thanks ladies for all of your comments.  I am still hopeful that the T&C will work out, but if not, we've been looking at Cayman resorts.

On a much more fun note, we took our engagement photos on Thursday and they turned out great.  It was super windy (AGAIN), but we found some good spots.  We even had our dogs in a few photos.  I'll post some soon.

As far as TTD attire goes, is anyone doing a knock-off of their original dress?  Our wedding is 2 weeks before our AHR, so I don't want to trash the dress that I'm getting married in.  I keep lurking on the knock-off dress thread trying to decide if I want to go that route.

I'm hoping everyone's drama has died down this weekend:-)

We went and did our gift registry today! At first I questioned even doing one because of the DW but I think it's a good idea knowing my mom & sister and my friends will throw a shower... I really don't expect gifts at the actual wedding.

What about you ladies? Registering or not?

Because I had a horrible time finding a dress I liked in the bridal shops, I ordered a custom made dress from China that is based on a picture I sent. I'll get to see it and try it on for the first time this weekend. I figure for the cost, it will definitely be worth it. I'll let you know how it turned out.

We're registering this weekend. I'll be having at least one shower so I want people to have an idea of what we need. If we weren't having a shower I probably wouldn't register.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
