April 2011 Brides

I know exactly what you mean. Our family was pretty good for booking except for a two important people but we got it all straightened out. The people who should be the first people to book is your wedding party. Ya right!! My bridesmaids are supposed to be there for moral support and keep my stress levels down. They were my BIGGEST source of stress throughout this entire process. I was only going to have 2 bridesmaids but I've had the same friends since I was young and some of them would be really upset if I didn't ask them to stand for me so I ended up with 6! Well, the two girls I wanted to have of course saved their money and booked right away! The other 4 have been a nightmare. One waiting for a cheaper price (um $1100 plus tax for a 7 night all-inclusive vacation is awesome and you're not going to get much better than that!!), one wanting to buy a new SUV that they didn't need so putting it off, one who is in a relationship that is not sure where's it going even though it's been 7 months so didn't want to "rush" the relationship, and one who just told me she doesn't want to go to the wedding pregnant. She's not even pregnant yet! Seriously!!  I was ready to say don't come, just let me know. Thankfully, I managed to get two more to book and one is booking this weekend. The other one I'm considering not going. We were told our resort is reaching maximum capacity, so it was crunch time to get people to book.

It's good to know I'm not the only one who is dealing with some issues. I agree with what some of the girls are saying. It's going to be the best day of your life and as long as you have each other a few special people in your life. Anyone that really wants to go to your wedding will find a way to be there and if they don't go for whatever reason they are the ones missing out on a great time! :-)

Ok, today is vent Friday and today is also full of stupid people that get on my last nerve AAAAAHHHHHH shots.gif

So I invited my future sister in law to go with us this weekend to get my dress and possible find a dress for her too, she told me on Monday she was going and looking forward to it! Then yesterday she tells me shes not going now! Just a little background info she has an overly obsessive boyfriend and shes just as obsessive over him its pretty sickening actually.  Anyways my FI called her and ripped her a new one told her he did not appreciate her backing out on my like that and told her he was really upset over it. Well then i get a txt a couple of minutes ago saying "im going!"  Then FI calls me and tells me she said shes going now because he boyfriend said it was okay for her to go now!!!!!! REALLY, are you kidding me!!!!

OMG....I would not be impressed!  I would find out where she is going. If she is going on a big vacation that would cost the same or more I would be upset.....more hurt than angry especially since you have been friends for so long. You learn a lot about people when you plan a wedding.

oh Brandy I feel your pain!

if it's venting Friday......... when FI and I decided on a destination wedding, I kind of accepted the fact right off the bat that my brother's would not be coming.  One just got married this past summer, and the other is getting married Jan 2012 - so finances are tight for them.

well my mom just told me that the one who just got married is now going to a friends destination wedding in mexico this december and still isn't sure if he's coming to mine... sad.gif  my mom actually is the one who is most pissed off about the fact that he put his $ towards going to a friends' wedding vs his sister (he knew about mine way before) .. *sigh...*

as for the bridesmaid thing.. i feel for all you girls! i couldn't even imagine having to deal with that kind of stress!

FI and I chose a DW to avoid stresses like that so are actually not having any bridal party.  Our good friend and his gf (who will probably become his fiance on our trip) will act as our witnesses.

i'm at the point now though where i don't even care now.... if he doesn't come, his loss. we have a great group going regardless.  but yeah it still peeves me a bit... esp considering how much i had to spend on my bridesmaid dress/shoes/gifts/hotel for his wedding downtown Toronto this past summer. but i don't know.. part of me feels it's not worth the fight and stress

Well, looks like I'll have to participate in vent Friday.  I found out a few days ago that the T&C immigration apparently requires a $500 work permit for the photographer we're taking with us...and supposedly getting that permit approved is difficult.  SERIOUSLY?!?  Grrrrrrrrrr.  So I emailed the wedding consultant at the hotel we're wanting to use, and she got back to me quickly, but will be unavailable due to the arrival of Hurricane Tomas this weekend.   Aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh!  rant.gif

FI and I discussed it last night and we may scrap the whole T&C idea and head to the Caymans instead.  I don't really care where we get married (since it's just the 2 of us it's easier to change plans) as long as it has a gorgeous beach, and my sweet FI.  The rest will (eventually) fall into place.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
