I am having major problems deciding on a dress and shoes. I'm hoping to knock out the dress this wknd and I think I will feel a lot better once that is done. Good luck everyone!

My parents are officially dressed and ready!!!  Too bad not much else is done...  Going to work on a wedding website and invites this weekend.

How are you guys coordinating your group rates with guests?  I know my TA can only secure rates for a week and a half or so.  I don't know how it's going to work after that, if she'll have to get a new quote, and then will I have to coordinate another group of 10 to get the rate?  Also, does anyone have any recommendation on Travel Agents?  The one I'm using seems quite good, but just thought I'd check with you all.  (Canadian companies only)

How did you guys ask your bridal party to be a part of your wedding?  I was hoping to come up with something creative but I'm dry for ideas.

Hi Christina,

I am getting married April 6th in the Mayan Riviera and I am also from the lower mainland. I have tried a few travel agents with the whole group rate thing and what I have recieved so far hasn't been all that great. The prices are pretty much the same as if we all booked individually. I have recently contacted another company (who are canadian and specialize in destination weddings) and so far they seem pretty promising and they will be providing me with quotes on Monday. I can share their contact info with you if you wish....

For group rates we found that because a lot of our guests are doing different time lengths, we couldn't get with the group rate really.  Our TA said that it just didn't make sense because it doesn't offer people the options we want them to have...  I guess the group rates are really going to depend on if all of your guests plan on the staying for the same length of time.

I can't help with TA's...  I'm in the US...  We are using BDW TA Wendy, who has been wonderful thus far, but she's in the US...

I am using TA Jill from the forum, she is great also. Booking ASAP, but we are not doing group rates for the reason that keeps coming up. Everyone seems to be going different lengths of time and I don't want to be responsible for taking care of everyone's trip (as I was for our last big trip down there in summer 2009). It's my wedding, so I don't want any added stress. To each his own and they just have to let me know if they book through someone besides my TA.

I will be meeting with my aunt who is a decorator at receptions and kind of takes care of everything for that. Also going to have her help me come up with some sort of menu. Started on DIY passport invites, hoping to get those mailed out in September. STDs were mailed back in May and people are wanting more details... I have gotten so many facebook messages and I ask them to just wait another month.

Dress is purchased (since October 2009) and still fits, yay!  Mainly I need to get the invitations out, book the trip, and it's smooth sailing for awhile. It's FINALLY feeling like I have deadlines and that it is getting close. woot.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
