You can try selling the first one on oncewed.com

Good luck!

Hi Lua :

Im also an april 2011 bride, the 5 to be exact at Riu Ocho Rios,, i went with this resort, because as per my TA the Riu Negril was to undergo renovations during this time.

I feel cheated now,, did he lie to me ????

If you dont mind me asking, how much did you get quoted,, id like to compare to what i got as a group quote and see if im paying a lot more, then i know this is why he made me choose ROR.

My group quote was $1499 + 177 in taxes for a double ocupancy,,

Don't stress!!!!!!! the whole idea of a DW is to not stress!!! (at least that's how my FI and I are looking at it)  You still have plenty of time!  My date is April 9 at the Riu Negril and I'm not even going to start dress shopping until oct/nov!  As for STD and invites, I only sent out the STD a couple of weeks ago because we had landed a great group quote that is only valid for a month! So we wanted to give everyone the option to take advantage! No need to freak out! :)  I'm puzzled as to what your TA is telling you about 6 weeks for confirmation - confrimation for what?????  I reserved my wedding date and time on the Riu weddings website and recieved an email from them about 3 days later saying that the date/time will be held for 90 days.  At least for Riu Negril, you can't confirm your wedding until you actually book your stay.  We officially booked our stay 2 weeks ago, recieved our booking confirmation # several days after that -- I then went to confirm the wedding via the Riu wedding website and it was confirmed right away! I have since contacted the wedding coordinator to ensure we have the steakhouse reserved for our reception and all is good! I don't see why it would take so long for Riu Ocho Rios, so maybe investigate that if you're worried???

Again, don't stress! just go with the flow!

:)

I have not heard anything about the Riu Negril going through renovations during our stay. And I trust my TA 100% as she is family and was actually just there this past May (she's also already booked herself).  Also, my wedding is now booked and confirmed and i've even been in touch with the WC on the resort.  We got a group quote of $1258+ tax (came to $1536 with everything in) for a week with Signature Vacations.

Thanks Lua!!  I'm soooo excited.  Everything is coming into place nicely, although it does feel kinda rushed right now trying to organize travel, dresses, etc., etc.

My parents leave for the Baja every October and don't return until the Spring, so my Mom is wanting me to have everything done before she goes or else she'll feel like a guilty Mom leaving her daughter alone to plan the wedding.  She said that she would stay in Vancouver to help me if I don't have everything set, but I told her I would feel soooo guilty if she were to do that, so I'm trying to have everything planned asap.

Have all of you April brides organized everything already?  I guess it's only 7.5 months away...

Well the only thing we have accomplished so far is send out the STDs, booked the resort, booked our rooms, booked our flights, and my invitations are done as well, but I wont be sending those out until December.  Still havent gone dress shopping yet though, I think thats the only thing Im behind on.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
