April 2011 Brides

I'm getting married April 20, 2011 at Dreams Riviera Cancun! So happy to find this thread!

For any Mexico brides- Is anyone else considering getting married before they go to save on the amount of time you have to be there prior to your wedding/costs for blood test, etc? Right now we're booked to do everything there, but if we get married here first, we will save about $2,000! I really wanted everything there to be the "real" thing, but it's hard to pass up saving that much money!

So far STDs have been sent out, dress bought, photographer booked (we are bringing him from here), rooms booked. Currently working on flights, and invites!

What are all your FIs wearing for the ceremony??

Hey mrsmaxx2b,

I am getting married on April 16. 2011 :) in Paradisus Palma Real- Punta Cana DR. I am looking forward to share stories.

Finally, my guests are booking so far we have 35 booked and counting! YEAH!! and they are all staying with us at PPR...well, we are not giving them a lot of choices. But I mean, if they all traveling to our wedding it make sense for all of us to be together in the same resort.

I didnt consider getting married beforehand like you said I want my wedding day to be the day I get married or the "real thing" you *hopefully* only get married once!

Thanks for all the responses!! :) Never thought to look at Express or H&M! Great idea! My FI has two children, and I'd like for his son (9 years old) to wear something similar to my FI. I would like him to wear a tan suit. Any ideas where I could look for one for a 9 year old?

We are getting married at City Hall a few months before we leave for Mexico. We are having a "blessing ceremony" there. It's basically the same thing as getting married but less money and we don't have to fill out all kinds of Mexican paperwork or get blood tested!! My mom lives is Florida so we are actually going to do the marriage, shower, and bach party all in 1 long weekend!

As for what we're wearing...I'm still looking. May have found the dress but I'm waiting for my mom to see it. It's a simple trumpet style dress. I want my FI to wear a light tan suit. Also we're going to have our ring bearer wear a tan seersucker suit and our flower girls are wearing tutus!! I found this awesome website called weddingtutu.com. They are the cutest things!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
