Private Reception...is there such a thing?

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone!

My FI and I are just about to book our date with the resort. We have to put down a 10% deposit to hold our date.....no biggie.

I am trying to find out thou, if we can have a reception. Everywhere i have looked in the wedding packages, all they offer is a private dinner.

and by a reception i mean, a time where we can dance, have a time to do speaches ect.

We are having our wedding at Gran Bahia Principe. in Punta Cana.

So if anyone knows any info, pls pls let me know! thanks a bunch!

hmmm not sure about that particular resort. However I do know that arrangements can be made at other resorts for a private dinner, which you would have to pay for. My FI and I aren't too fussy about it being private but for a rehearsal / get together dinner we are just planning on booking space in one of the restaurant for all of our guests.

Our resort allows for private rentals for about 500 - 700 $ if I remember correctly your safest bet would be to bug your wedding co-ordinator about it and hopefully you'll get a timely response.

Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Most of the hotels do offer private receptions and I believe Bahia Principe does too. It might help to repost your question and put Bahia Prinicpe in the title section. that way former BP brides would catch it quicker and provide you with a timely answer.

Hi there,

I'm getting married at the Gran Bahia Punta Cana on Nov 17 2010. They do offer a private reception as well. Their private dinner pretty much is the reception as well. It is from 6:30-10:30. The cost varies depending on the number of guests you have. I think it is $600 for 30 ppl or less. But you can have time for speeches and to dance. You can bring your own music... with a laptop and rent speakers from them for example, or you can rent their DJ ($500 for sound and lights)

Hope this was helpful. If you have other questions, just let me know, and if i know the answer, i"ll gladly help :)

Take care

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
