March Wedding forecast looks bad (worried)

Recommended Posts

Our wedding is in Playa Del Carmen on the 31st and the weather forecast says showers with 60% chance of rain, not even sun showing!! Anyone else out there worried, or had a wedding in March and can give me some inspiration, maybe some advice to not worry about it?? Thanks, Amy

It has been unusually rainy in Playa del Carmen and I continue to track weather down there on my iPhone even after our December wedding.

Here's our experience - A week before our wedding the chance of rain went from 30% to 60% on the same day. Weather turned out to be perfect on our wedding day. We got a little drizzle for good luck when we were packing to leave the ceremony venue. Don't worry, it can simply be showers passing through and everything will be okay. wink.gif

It's really out of your control anyway. We never had sun on our wedding day and I really didn't care. We even had a few drops of rain! However, the chances of it raining on your ceremony at the exact time are pretty slim. Prepare yourself for clouds and I'll bet you end up with sun! Don't worry about something you have absolutely NO control over. Either way, you'll get married and the weather won't matter. Easier said than done I know, but take it from someone who's been there... you really won't care the day of. I was personally more stressed about wind. :)

Amy, I got married in December in Puerto Vallarta where the locals swore to me that it "never rains". The sunset was this gorgeous orange, pink, purple the days before the wedding so we took a ton of pics. Then the day of the wedding it was overcast all day. It was a fabulously pleasant temperature for our guests during the ceremony and was especially nice that they weren't baking in the sun. Our pics on the beach turned out really cool as the sunset and ocean were these wonderful cool blues and grays. We had the reception, it started to sprinkle, we jumped in the pool, everyone went and changed then met up at the lobby bar and it started pouring! Definitely a sign of good luck for our new life together. Ahem... I also read the rain on your wedding day is a symbol of fertility and you will have lots of kids... LOL. You have no control over the weather so enjoy what it is and make the best of it :o)

Clouds are such a wonderful thing! No harsh shadows in your pictures, no squinting, no sweaty pits (LOL svetayasofiya).

As a photographer, I LOVE me some cloudy days!! :)

As for the rain, I have experienced that it likes to rain in the early morning and late in the evening. It doesn't rain too often during the day. So you should be fine. Don't get too worried about it.

And if it DOES rain, make the best of it. It's your wedding day!!!!

On our wedding day they said to expect over 10 day period of watching the weather report: rain, sun, cloudy, partially cloudy and thunderstorms! So you can imagine my suprise when we had 80 degrees and sun.... we had lots of squity eyes and sweaty groomsmen! I wouldn't worry about it until the day of the wedding its extra stress you don't need.

Hey Wedding Date Twin!!!

We were so lucky because the weather forecast was HORRIBLE! I had a plan B and plan C with my WC but we lucked out and the day was PERFECT! I was hell bent on getting married on the beach and it worked out! BUT i was willing to accept if that wasn't meant to happen as well so...as all the other brides said, you just have to go with it because there is nothing you can do except trust that it will work out how it's meant to.

The thing with the rain down there is that it can rain for 5 mins and then the sky opens up. You could easily just wait the rain out and away you go! It's not like the rain here in Vancouver when once it settles in...it's here to stay for days!

And yes...I was squinting the entire ceremony!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
