Hi Amanda,

Congrats on the booking. I recently discovered RIU Palace Punta Cana in my research and am seriously considering them to have our wedding. My FI and I are hoping to make a decision this weekend. Did you get pricing from the resort or just go by what is on the website? I'd like to know the prices for "extras". As well, most of our guests will be coming from Ottawa or Toronto area, did you get pricing for the all inclusive or are you waiting for this?

Thanks and happy planning.

I based the wedding packages by what was on the website for 2010. Since then, they have released their 2011 prices which are quite reasonable. The only difference is the amount of guests included in the package. For the 2010 Royal package, it included up to 40 guests, but for 2011 it dropped to only 15. This means I may need to upgrade to the Caprice or find out what the "extra person" rate is and figure out which way is more reasonable.
I have gotten a few quotes from Sunquest and they came in at $1750 + $200 taxes for the airfare and Jr. Suite AI from Toronto. My TA mentioned that this is still quite high for them and suggested I wait another month or two to see if the rates drop.
As for the extras, I haven't found a dedicated site like the ones they have for Majestic or Paradisus (with pics of all the centrepieces, bouquets, cake choices etc). But it sounds as though most everything is included and I don't really think I will need to purchase any extras :)

Happy Planning!!! I'll try to post as much info as I can on this site for future Riu Punta Cana brides.

getting married in Riu Palace October 9th 2010. I went w their caprice package as it included 60 guests (96 booked & counting) They did charge me a fee for over the 60 guests included in the package but it was very small as the resort is already all inclusive. We did pay for "extras" such as private reception, extra time for reception and extra time for the DJ. they are very accomadating and i literally wrote them an email with lists of questions, which they replied to in detail. They are even allowing my friend whos a pastry chef into their kitchen to decorate my cake!!!

Please ask them for pictures of locations, resturant choices, table set ups, flowers, cakes etc. If you find pics of what you want, feel free to send them to the WC and ask if its possible for them to do. They will let you know. I have some pictures too if you want to private message me for me to send i would be happy to share!!! GL to all

  • 2 weeks later...

@Hunieduew: The Royal package dropped from 40 to 15 guests and the Caprice dropped from 60 to 40 guests for the 2011 packages. So far, I have about 25 guests, so I have to figure out the cost difference to pay the extra per person charge or just upgrade to the caprice. When are you getting married?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
