What we did was take the originals to the notary showed them to her and then she typed up a letter saying she saw the original documents and verifies that we are those people and then she notarized the letter. then we made copies of our documents and just sent them with the notarized letter and that worked out fine.
They must all be different because we brought in our original documents and what she did was make copies of our originals and put a note at the bottom saying that is was a valid copy & notarized it - fyi.

The website says 48 hours. I am doing the same. . coming in on Wednesday and getting married Saturday. As for paperwork I just sent mine. I sent our notarized passports and original copies of our birth certificates. Since it has the raised seal, the notary said they do not notarize the birth certificates. I sent mine via FedEx. I wanted someone to sign that they received it. You have to watch because FedEx, UPS etc won't deliver to P O Boxes. My Travel Agent found out directly from Chandyln that if you leave off the PO Box on the address.. .the package will go right to the hotel. Chandyln should receive it this week. . so I will keep you posted on how it worked out and if Isent the correct paperwork. I did it a few weeks in advance in case I had to resend anything..

I just sent my documents via registered mail from Canada. It cost $19 for the shipping and the ridiculously over-priced envelope. I'll let everyone know how long they took when they get there.

ETA: I have no idea when my documents arrived but apparently they are there. I didn't get any update on the Canada Post tracking number or an email from Chandlyn but when I emailed to ask her if she had received them and she confirmed that our paper work had arrived.

Thanks! I apprecaite it... I just confirmed my wedding but it isn't until Jan 2009 so I don't want to bombard Chandlyn with questions just yet. It would be great to know though! :) Also, have you seen the wording for the renewal of the vows verse a regular ceremony?

No I haven't seen any wording yet. We're having an elder from our church as our officiant so I'm hoping he has something to show me before we go otherwise I'll have to do some searching just in case they don't have anything. Or, we'll do our own vows.

Chandlyn STILL hasn't replied to that email about the required docs. I resent it today and hopefully she gets back to me very soon because my next step would be to call somebody above her and she does not want to deal with that because that would not be pretty (for somebody). So standby for that info...

Congrats on finally setting your date though.

My agent is telling methat Valeria @ Riu stated 72 hours requirement before wedding. My agent states all other Jamaican weddings that she has done at other resorts follow Jamaican government requirement of 48 hours. We are still checking on this.

You must be in Jamaica 2 full business days before the wedding. Our wedding was on Friday and we arrived on Tuesday. The 2 full business days being Wednesday & Thursday. FYI.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
