A wedding sure makes you realize who is important to you!

I completely understand what you are going through...

I understand the people that can't make it to a destination wedding... with using their holidays and the cost involved...it's a lot to ask!!

But for those who can't make it to the showers and the Bachelorettes... it's really horrible! It's just hurtful ... especially when you have made effort to go to each of theirs!!

Having a destination wedding has really taught me who my real friends are.

That sucks. It's never pleasant to realize that your friends are not really your friends anymore.

I went through a similar experience for my first wedding, but with family. My godfather had told me they wouldn't make it (it was not a destination wedding, it was in the same town) because they were too tired taking care of his wife's father. Fine. Then the day of I'm outside taking picture and in my grandparents' backyard (we were all neighbors back then) and I see them on their balcony and they did not even come to congratulate me. The family has been divided ever since. sad.gif

I have to say I'm glad to know I'm not the only one out there feeling the same way.....although that doesn't sound right to feel glad about this kind of issue. It's a shame that people feel they need to act like that. I'm still in the early planning stage, but let people know right away that it would be a destination wedding....just to make sure those that want to come have plenty of time to save. My two "best" friends have not mentioned even wanting to be there.......yet girls I've just recently made friends with when I moved are all planning to come and keep gushing about what a great time it's going to be. On the flip side my FI best man's wife tells me almost every time we speak how people don't like destination weddings b/c it means having to use their holidays and the cost incurred. That's fine, I'm not forcing anyone to be there, and I understand that not everyone will be but there's no need to be so negative when I'm trying to be happy!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
