Did you use Carlos Melnik? Or someone else great?

Recommended Posts

Marla-

Elizabeth Medina totally separate person.

Elizabeth Lloyd and Elizbeth Fladung (or most of the time Beth) the same person. Yes, I hired her! I think she will be great.

We are staying at the Barcelo. Most of my guests will be staying there too...I think. I tried to choose a moderate place in hopes everyone will stay at the same place, but I'm not going to stress over it. It's there vacation too and I don't want to waste time being stressed out...It's not the mexico way. lol.

You figure out your photog yet Marla?

Well since you asked, I did email Elizabeth earlier today asking her if she was still available for April 1 so I am eagerly awaiting for her response. My stomach is in knots. I just saw that she posted her on this forum and I guess her connection to Michigan put the icing on the cake so to speak. She couldn't have lived too far from me since the college she went to is an hour away from where I live. I feel good knowing there is no language barrier and maybe having a female will help capture the emotional side. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

By the way, in an earlier email you sent to me, you mentioned that you were deciding between Carlos Melnik and Roberto Aceves. May I ask what made you decide on Elizabeth?

Did you receive a contract from her yet? Did you have to put down money to secure her services? She told me she took around 400-600 photos. Is this what you were told? Do you think they all come on CD? Do you know if she digitally enhances them first? Does she do one of those videos like Leigh Miller did for Ann? I guess maybe I should just ask Elizabeth herself!!

Oh, before I forget, did you ever find the person who used real and fake flowers? I asked you this on the Las Caletas forum but you were too busy working at the time to look. Shame on you!!! Just kidding. I have about 3 weeks left before I go back and I have so much to do before then like buy my dress. Have you done that yet?

Where did Beth post at on the forum? I missed it! I told her about the forum and she told me she joined but I never found a post!

She told me I will get a CD of images. She said she will digital ehances images I chose. I asked for no prints, but that was a personal preferences. I can't remember how many images she said she would take, but I think it was right around the same ball park she quoted you. I have it printed up at home. I have no contract and paid no deposit. She said she could do a contract if I wished, but rethinking it I might do one and pay a deposit.

I just asked her about a trash the dress session, no answer yet. I'm excited for that answer.

I chose her over Robert and Carlos because she spoke English. I got tired of emails that did not answer questions I asked. Plain and simple. And I think she took better pictures. More artistic and less cliche.

She seems more personable too. I think I will enjoy being around her the whole day. They could be nice guys, but it's hard to tell through their emails because it was so hard to communicate.

Yes, I bought my dress. Very excited. It comes in Oct! I'll get you the petal link tonight! I had to go to dinner last night for FI mom's bday last night so there was no time. Sorry.

Oh, my. Obviously I'm on this computer way too late and my vision is going. I totally made a very embarrassing mistake! I mistaked Elizabeth Medina for Elizabeth Fladung and emailed Fladung telling her how awesome it was to see her posts on the forum, etc. I went on and on and then asked her if she was available for my wedding. She is going to think I am a nutcase and I'm beginning to wonder myself. Well, I still want her so I hope she's willing to overlook my stupidity!!

haha. Just play it off that brides are always a little crazy. She DOES belong to this forum. She told me that. I just haven't found a post from her yet. She obviously didn't follow the rules and post in the newbie section, she probably is no longer a member now.

I dunno. I'm sure she will be happy to do your wedding. She should be more than happy. Plus it's at Las Caletas. I think any photographer should be begging us....haha.

Well, you should have read my email I sent to her. After reading Elizabeth Medina's introduction letter on the forum (thinking she was Fladung/Lloyd), I went on and on about how cool it was that she is from Michigan and how we were practically neighbors at one point. Oh, Lord help me!!! Then I asked her if she would be in Michigan visiting relatives because I thought we could meet and maybe do some photos. Yikes. My only hope is that she really is from Michigan by some huge coincidence but probably not!!

MarlaB, that is pretty funny. Don't be too embarrassed. I'm sure if you explain it to Beth (Lloyd), she will understand and not think you're crazy. :-) I must say that while I was reading your post, I was thinking that Beth didn't mention anything about going to school in Michigan. In fact, she said she's from NY, but went to an art school in LA, and lived here a few years and then moved back to NY before moving to PV. I thought maybe she just forgot to mention Michigan... haha...

Anyway, to answer some of your previous questions... Beth told me she would take about 500 shots the whole day. She'd send them all to you on a CD. Then you can pick the ones that you really like and she will re-touch them for you. We didn't do a contract and I didn't make a deposit, but now I'm thinking we probably should. Oh yeah, I also told Beth about this forum and she said others have mentioned it too, but she's been too busy to post. Hopefully she can find time soon!

I'd highly suggest getting a contract - without it you have no recourse if she doesn't show, etc . . . a contract protects both parties.

Overall, we're so happy with the way our photos turned out! We received about 250 photos on a CD, both in color and B&W (for a total of 500 images). We picked out about 60 that we liked the best and put them in an album on KodakPhotoShareGallery. If you want to see our entire album, we posted it to our website (Huong & Kris's Wedding Website and Registries on WeddingChannel.com - Welcome), under "Photo Albums". But you'll need to create an account to view it. Now I really can't wait to have Beth do our wedding photos too!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
