Hey jrod07,

Did you ever find out what the "basic setup" includes for the wet/parrot bars? I'm also curious to find this out? Thanks for clarifying on the flat rate @ $500/hr for these bars as well. This option makes much better sense to me now. :)

If you are going to bring your own alcohol, I strongly suggest that you buy alcohol at the duty free shop flying into Punta Cana. And even have some guests do the same for you. We tried to buy alcohol when we got there and realoozed that the duty free was sooo much cheaper. We hosted a welcome cocktail party. We ordered a bunch of appetizers and hired a bartender to pour our alcohol. It saved us a ton of $$. And then we had the party set up at the piano bar instead of the parrot bar where we originally intended to have it. There is no charge to use the piano bar and $400 for the parrot bar.

And then we brought the left over higher end alcohol with us to the bars that we hung out at and served it at the rehersal dinner as well. So we had a "high end" bar at all of our events. Saved us more than five hundred dollars.

Hi everyone

I find the elegance Extra's package so confusing. I wasn't going to have an open bar but if the bars are far from the wet bar, where I am having the dinner, I think I should. Does anyone know if I can just take open bar after the dinner or do I have to get it the whole time?

Thanks

Hi Everyone,

I am getting married in about 55 days, and I am still a little confused about the wet bar rental/ bartender rental.  According to the information that I recieved from the Majestic.

We have 26 people

Wet bar rental $300 for the area

National bar....$15.00 per hour + 26% and the bartender rental is $15.00 per bartender

Cost: $15 x 26 people =$390 dollars + 26% = $491.4 per hour + 45 dollars for bartender = $536.40

International bar....$25.00 per hour + 26% (there is not mention about a bartender rental)

Cost: $25 x 26 people = $650 dollars + 26% = $819 per hour (does that include the bartender??) = $819.00

We have booked DJ Mania and we are having dinner at the Steakhouse.

Can anyone clarify if the International bar price includes the bartender or do you have to add $15.00 per hour like the national bar.  Also can anyone suggest a better package I should consider (e.g $500 dollar option or something better)

Thanks everyone

I was thinking the same thing, but then because I am not having a private reception, I thought it would be nice to be able to have music, maybe people can make speeches and drinks for an hr before dinner...I am still undecided because it seems crazy to pay 500. for a sound system and set up, becasue drinks are basically free anyway....

Regarding the open bar questions, if you are having your wedding at the Wet Bar or the Parrot Bar, there are 2 bars right around there that make it VERY easy for the guests to walk to for a drink..so the open bar is really not necessary unless you do have the money to spend on it.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
