Hi Ladies,

I recently married at the Jellyfish Restaurant (April 27, 2013)  and wanted to let you know that, as past brides have said, Mayte is THE BOMB.COM. You have absolutely nothing to worry about. She is extremely busy and may be slow to respond, but please do not worry. She has EVERYTHING under control.  She is so warm and will do almost anything to make sure that your day is memorable.  The setting, of course, is beautiful and the food and drinks are also delish!  I would certainly recommend having your ceremony here as opposed to at any of the resorts.  Its much more private and there is only one wedding at the Jellyfish each day.  I sent Mayte a few pictures that showed our color scheme and some bouquets and cakes that I liked, and she NAILED it!  Again, you can't go wrong.

I would also highly recommend Michael Steingard for photography.  The pictures here are just snapshots from the day but you can check out his facebook page and website to see his work.  We have seen about 30 of the 1,500 or so he took for the wedding and trash the dress session and they are phenomanal!  We used Tropical Studio (Junior Cruz) for videography and they also did a teriffic job!  Also, Pastor Rick York performed the most beautiful ceremony I've witnessed, and I'm not just saying that because it was my wedding.  We used Mayte's DJ and MC and they were also AWESOME.  There is no need to spend more for DJ Mannia unless you just want to.  They were there prior to the ceremony and played music from our playlist as guests arrived and of course, they were there until the party ended around 11 (over 7 hours and we paid one flat fee, which was very reasonable).

We stayed at the Majestic Elegance in the Elegance club prior to the wedding.  It was a really nice resort for a wedding party.  The physical plant was beautiful and the rooms were nicely appointed and spacious.  We didn't care for the food but overally, it was a nice place and perfect for the pre-wedding festivities.  Just know that anyone not staying at the resort has to pay a $50 - $100 fee to come on the property so you should strongly encourage your friends and family to stay at the ME if you want them to participate in wedding activities you have planned at the resort.  We stayed at the Iberostar Grand Bavaro for our Honeymoon and we can't wait to go back.  The property was gorgeous and the food was EXCELLENT.  The rooms were much smaller than the suites at the ME but they were still really nice.  We will defintely be going back to the Iberostar and plan to check out some of their other properties around the world.

I hope this review is helpful and happy planning!!

Congrats!!! Your wedding was absolutely beautiful!!!! I love your cake! Did you get your cake made at Jelly Fish? I was wondering if you wouldn't mind sharing which food, drink or open bar, and decoration package you chose, also the total cost for your wedding at Jelly Fish. I am trying to plan a wedding with 70 guest and just trying to get a feel of what the cost would be. Thanks so much!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
