Jellyfish Restaurant

I was actually expecting more... so when she said $180 I got worried that it wouldn't look as full or cascading as the picture.  And they are all orchids. and the $180 was just for the one bouquet.

I also showed her this picture and she quoted me $160 for it: picture 2.jpg

I hope that helps.  What kind of flowers were you thinking of getting?

We're planning to use Karina Jensen.  Haven't seen too many reviews of her, but we really love her work!

Hello everyone!

Has anyone hired a wedding day coordinator to work with Mayte? Or an event decorator in Punta Cana? I am expecting anywhere from 80-125 guests at the JellyFish restaurant. I did see that a lot of people recommend DJ Mannia but Mayte said that she prefers to use her DJ. I just really like how professional DJ Mannia was and LOVED their lighted dance floor.

Any recommendations for outside vendors would be greatly appreciated.

Also, does anyone know of a saxophone player in Punta Cana?

Thank you in advance!

Venus909 - I am realy not too picky on flowers. Something simple and 'pretty' :) I loveyour choices!  I might do a simple, rose and lilly bouquet with some green in it.

Feb2013Bride2Be- From what I have heard,Mayte is amazing! There are new pictures on fb that look more ellaborate, I am not sure if she did it or hired someone (pink and orange wedding) There have been a lot of people who have used DJ Mannia so I think if that is what you want you should do it!  The great thing about the jellyfish (from what I can tell) there are no outside vendor fees like you get at the resorts

Venus- my bouquet was $130 so yours sounds right.. you have more orchids than I did :)

Feb- I wouldn't bother hiring someone else besides Mayte, it is not worth it..she has her own vendors she works with and people that help her, so she knows what shes doing.  I used the Jellyfish DJ, they had DJ Mania tshirts on so I was extremely confused.. not sure if they work hand in hand, but anyway.. the DJ the Jellyfish uses does an excellent job, I gave him a list of exactly when/what songs to play and he added in songs in the mix.. my guests loved him and were dancing all night.

I wanted extras but when I really thought of it, we're all planning a wedding from afar..I wanted a bonfire, but I'm glad I didn't go with it because it was raining all morning at the Jellyfish when at my resort it was perfect weather.. things like that, that you stress over and are just little details that really don't mean anything when its the day of your actual wedding.

Thanks ladies!  I think I'm going to go with the full orchind boquet and hope for the best :)

I wanted to add... When I was asking Mayte about the DJ, she said that she could bring in the lighted dance floor.  She gave me a quote for the lighted dance floor and LED or a plasma one (to have images on the dance floor).  I think that's what I'm going to do.  That way I would have the DJ and the lighted dance floor in the sand all night instead of just for 4 hours.

One question that I had about the in house DJ, if you send him a list of songs, I'm assuming they don't just play them in order right?  They actually blend them in and mix them up right?  Well like a DJ right?  lmao  I know it sounds like a dumb question, but I want a DJ that will keep the party going, not just someone that is like a glorified ipod. does that make sense?

I'm using Melia Caribe Tropical which I believe is right next to the Jellyfish.

We are staying at Dreams Palm Beach.  It's about 15 minutes from the JF.  We also have a handful of guests with time shares that will stay elsewhere, and maybe get a day pass for DPB to spend a little time with us there.  That's the good thing about having it at the Jellyfish.  Guests can really stay where ever they like, so just pick a resort that works for you...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
